Very nice museum with lots of early mining items to see. Good display of the old bank of Stearns and the bank vault itself is there Very informative and well kept. Lots of information to read for each item displayed. There are a bunch of rooms to see, start from the left and work your way around.

The McCreary County Museum is a small museum based in an old lumber and coal mining office. Lots of items of local interest, including a small display of Cornblossom, a local legend. It's not the Smithsonian, but for a small intrance fee it is worth stopping in if you are in the area.

We visited in the summer of 2021. My grandfather and his brothers were minors. Their pictures up on the wall, which I think is really cool. Museum has lots of interesting item to look at and a good general history of the area. I met Gloria, who was a very lovely lady. It was determined that we are somehow related. Looking forward to going back again someday and we really want to attend their yearly fundraiser. Thank you to everybody who works so hard to make the...

An amazing place to visit! My mom took a picture of my grandma and I, and in this picture, that I still have, there is a man from a completely different era, looks like from the 1800's. He is standing inside, looking out of the window and has an old style mustache. True story....I will be happy to share the photo. I just wonder if anyone else has had any...
