Vastwood Park is a really nice experience for campers, retirees with r.v.'s, lone campers and families with all aged children. We had a 3 day camping trip here and will be going back for another trip soon! The checking in was slightly confusing; you basically drive through the camp and pick out an available site (reservations are clearlymarked at each numbered site). You then write your own info down on a prepared envelope that is located underneath the yellow deposit box at the beginning of the road leading to the camping area. You deposit the envelope with the cash for your stay into the box and make sure the tag for your vehicle is visible. It's the most self-serve camping facility I have ever seen. It operates surprisingly smooth though. Prices are reasonable, $20/night for electric & water and $10/night for primitive tent camping (tent campers cannot stay more than 3 consecutive days which was disappointing because we would have stayed an entire week if permitted to do so). There was a big variety of campers and park goers there every day. The noise level was very quiet and peaceful, both night and daylight hours. There was fishing, playgrounds, a baseball diamond, shelters available for picnic/bbq's, a pizza place up the hill on the park's grounds and lots of beautiful trails to walk on and explore. There were several dog walkers, hikers and runners on these trails at all times during the day. We were pleasantly surprised over our stay here. Such a nice place to come and relax. I highly recommend Vastwood for a quiet outdoor get-away or a serene afternoon...

We stayed her for a little over a week working locally. Even with all the ball games going on and what seemed to be a packed park it was quiet and peaceful. There were lots of beautiful and scenic (fitness trail) places to walk our dog which made it very nice. Lots of places for kids to play. We especially enjoyed the coincidence of the Galaxy Pizza with it's vast menu and delivery service. Great place would definitely stay again. Additions that would be nice but not necessary. A fenced dog park and full sewer hook ups. Dump station is close though. All in all...

First experience at this camp ground. Beautiful scenery. Amazing site! Park was clean and quieter than most grounds we've been to. Stayed in a tent site and was such a great experience. Wish they had more places to park for tent sites but that is my only concern about this park. Beautiful 1.2 Mile walking trail and friendly campers as well. Would highly recommend for that peaceful, much needed getaway.

I have come here since I was a child. A well maintained park. From an abundance of fish in the lake to many, many critters in the park, you will definitely see some wildlife! We saw a groundhog, fox, turtles geese, squirrels, and a large variety of birds, just in a few hours hiking. Paved trails and dirt trails are available.

Had my grandsons birthday party here today. Building was warm and clean and nice size. Picture shows a nice size bouncy house in one corner and still had plenty of room. Park itself seems quite nice. Much bigger than I knew it ever was.
