Vastwood Park is a really nice experience for campers, retirees with r.v.'s, lone campers and families with all aged children. We had a 3 day camping trip here and will be going back for another trip soon! The checking in was slightly confusing; you basically drive through the camp and pick out an available site (reservations are clearlymarked at each numbered site). You then write your own info down on a prepared envelope that is located underneath the yellow deposit box at the beginning of the road leading to the camping area. You deposit the envelope with the cash for your stay into the box and make sure the tag for your vehicle is visible. It's the most self-serve camping facility I have ever seen. It operates surprisingly smooth though. Prices are reasonable, $20/night for electric & water and $10/night for primitive tent camping (tent campers cannot stay more than 3 consecutive days which was disappointing because we would have stayed an entire week if permitted to do so). There was a big variety of campers and park goers there every day. The noise level was very quiet and peaceful, both night and daylight hours. There was fishing, playgrounds, a baseball diamond, shelters available for picnic/bbq's, a pizza place up the hill on the park's grounds and lots of beautiful trails to walk on and explore. There were several dog walkers, hikers and runners on these trails at all times during the day. We were pleasantly surprised over our stay here. Such a nice place to come and relax. I highly recommend Vastwood for a quiet outdoor get-away or a serene afternoon...

Read moreWe stayed her for a little over a week working locally. Even with all the ball games going on and what seemed to be a packed park it was quiet and peaceful. There were lots of beautiful and scenic (fitness trail) places to walk our dog which made it very nice. Lots of places for kids to play. We especially enjoyed the coincidence of the Galaxy Pizza with it's vast menu and delivery service. Great place would definitely stay again. Additions that would be nice but not necessary. A fenced dog park and full sewer hook ups. Dump station is close though. All in all...
