Hiked a portion of the trail at the beginning of March late in the morning, I unfortunately couldn’t hike all the way to the beach due to time constraints. At the time I hiked it the trail was dry and it offers some beautiful views that are different from the rest of the Everglades. I highly recommend wearing pants as you will be pushing through undergrowth growing into the trail. The trail doesn’t have a lot of shade so plenty of water, sunscreen, and some form of cover (large hat, long sleeves, etc) is recommended. Bug spray is definitely needed although the bugs weren’t very bad at the time I hiked. Bring some binoculars if you can as there were a large variety of birds along the trail. It’s a lovely trail and different from a lot of the other Everglades trails!

This trail is quite long and offers little to no shade. Bring plenty of water if hiking to the clubhouse beach because the heat and humidity will get you. The trail is full of orchids. I would say that 80% of the trees that have bromeliads growing on them have orchids also.Too bad none of them were blooming. I might check the trail again in the future once i figure out when those orchids bloom. Try hiking in winter so you don't encounter mosquitoes or mud.

A challenging, secluded hike. Be sure to bring heavy bug repellent because there will be lots of mosquito larvae that hatch out due to the standing water during the rainy season. I would recommend long sleeves and pants because you will be walking through brush where lots of critters will be using as a highway. If hiking here during the rainy season, beware, it floods. Wear heavy boots or waders.

Trail Conditions for 12/27/2023 Trail is muddy at the beginning but is in 4+ inches of water after the first quarter of a mile. It’s truly a beautiful trail but isn’t dry except probably after January? The trail follows the section of the Old Ingraham Highway that went between Flamingo and what is now Clubhouse Beach, where a clubhouse had existed pre-NPS era.

There are no restrooms at the trailhead but some are available in the A and T loops in the campground. Parking is minimal at the trailhead since it’s in the old and overgrown portion of the old C...
