I received a cancellation notice with a tiny box with this blurb days before my experience "Unfortunately I need to cancel your tour. My husband has been in the hospital in tampa following an accident since Jan 18th. The doctors have told me that he is not doing well being alone, and that I need to be there more often. So I am taking a month to be with him. So unfortunately, this means that I can either put your tour on a hold status and you can get rescheduled at a later date. Or we can cancel. I really do apologize, I know this is very dissapointing, but it is what I have to do now. Thanks, Heather
Regards,"
While I understand emergencies happen. I bought my tickets after his accident. If this was a possibility it should have been mentioned soonwr so we could start planning something else. I hope he husband ends up doing well but the last minute cancellation and no previous communication is not okay. This was not an emergency that just occurred and needed immediate attention. This happened 6 months prior. If she would have communicated there was a possibility of cancellation due to a personal health emergency that would have been fine. Also, it feels guilt trippy. Emergencies happen, family is # 1, but communication is still vital to...

That said... the owners are clearly very caring of the animals on premise, with custom enclosures, custom diets, and the collaboration with various conservation programs.
They have two wonderful anteaters, a lot turtles, a big tortoise, some other critters, rescue greyhounds, and of course the sloth.
We went as a group and found the costs to be reasonable as it supports the programs they contribute to, and felt the time and information conveyed during the tour...
Read moreWe had the coolest time at Charleston Sloth and Exotics!! Henry and Heather are super personable and knowledgeable about their animals and you can tell how much they really love what they do. If you’re expecting some big fancy op, that’s not what you’ll get here. And I wouldn’t change a thing. You will get one-on-one time with each of the animals and a hands on experience that you can’t get at a zoo or other facility. Henry and Heather answered all of our questions and let us handle the animals at our own pace. Walking the anteater and cuddling the opossums was the highlight of the trip/year/decade 😂. We’re so thankful to have stumbled upon CSE and will...
