I went here for a family party. The cabin didn’t have A/C, but the windows were pretty nice. However, many of the screens were torn not just a little bit, and the windows themselves didn’t seem to have been installed correctly. The tables and chairs were perfectly set up, and there was even an outdoor seating area. Overall, having a sink and bathroom facilities inside the cabin was wonderful. I think it was a nice setup. I kind of wished there were more accessible parking, though. The cabin, —oh, it was called Miller Hall, didn’t have that big of a parking area right there at the cabin. I parked farther away in that big lot at the top of the hill. When I was leaving, that single-lane entry road was really noticeable. I needed to back up to allow a car that was entering around me. Overall, this park is a nice park. There’s a castle playground down at the bottom of the hill by the creek. The creek is managed well— between two very permanent-looking walls that allow the free-flow and protection from flooding. It’s a nice place to go with the family. My church even had their yearly picnic in the main building. It was a beautiful building. I can’t remember what the inside was like after all this time, but I remember...
Read moreWe have been to Avonworth Community Park to swim, play on the playground, and for a company picnic. The pool is nice, there's a slide for the big kids and a separate small pool for little kids. There are private changing areas and a snack bar. The playground is a large wooden playground with lots of areas for kids to run, hide, and play. The playground is large and the back is not completely enclosed so it can be a challenge to keep your eye on the kids but there are benches and picnic pavilions to sit. The company picnic we went to used all of the building on the hill. The Mayernik center, the log building, is a large updated building that would be great for big events like weddings. There's an open pavilion that can seat a ton of people. The cabin at the top of the hill has updated facilities and a small kitchen. It would be great for meetings or smaller get-togethers. Miller Hall is the least modern of the buildings, it's pretty rustic, but has newer bathroom facilities and a nice deck outside. We think the park is a great place to come play and a great place to...
Read moreWow, I grew up in Pittsburgh and I never knew this park was here. We wanted to get out of the house for a few hours with our toddler. It was in the high 80's this day. I think we may have even searched for something like "local swimming hole". But we found Avonworth Park, just about 25 minutes away from our house in Pittsburgh's East End. This park has a beautiful, shallow creek, where the water is crystal clear, a nice wooden playground, public swimming pool, a pavilion that I imagine one can rent out, and more. The park (including the public restrooms) was clean. We even found spots in the creek that were a little deeper, and let us cool off a...
