One of the better true hiking areas in Allegheny county. 3.5 mile loop in total. The trail can be muddy even days after a rain so be prepared for that - also can be quite muggy along the stream so be prepared for bugs especially in the evening. Overall great spot, would recommend.

Not a bad hike. Lots of elevation, but other than that pretty easy. Most steep sections have natural stone stairs. Muddy when wet. Attractive and mostly wooded but no real views. Well-groomed trail other than some sections that are overgrown with vegetation.

Great 3 mile loop close to Avalon. The trail was well marked and maintained. Be prepared for lots of hills and a few shallow creek crossings. Toms Run road is a bumpy with several pot holes. The parking area is large and rarely filled.

This is a lovely spot sort of in the middle of nowhere....you have to drive down a pretty worn out road to get there. The initial part of the trail is a beautiful, wide, easy to navigate path that crosses a small stream a couple of times. However, once you reach the main loop, it seems like maintenance of this property has ended. There are currently at least two large downed trees in the path. I managed to go off path and climb over the first tree, but beyond that, trail maintenance is non-existent. The path is very narrow and crowded with tall grass which I wasn't loving because of the possibility of ticks. After a short while, there is another, larger downed tree that I didn't think I should try to climb over on my own--definitely gave me some Pet Semetary...

This is a great spot to get out and enjoy 300+ acres of wooded area. The 3 mile loop trail is of moderate difficulty. Please be aware that is is a nature reserve and not a municipal park, don't conflate the trail here with a maintained walking path. There are offshoots from the conservancy loop trail that dead end or terminate on private property, when in doubt note that the loop trail is marked by white blazes. Make sure to visit and check the W Pa Conservancy website...

Nicely marked and maintained almost 3 mile loop trail with diverse terrains, sitting & overlook areas. I've taken teens, young kids, friends and dogs here & everyone enjoyed it. Be warned that there is very active hunting in this area and you may have to explain to your children why there is a trail of blood to the parking. I suggest folks wear blaze orange, hiking or trail shoes and stay...
