Amarante's Winter Wonderland in Dayville, Connecticut, is a cherished holiday attraction that has captivated visitors for over a decade. What began as a modest display has blossomed into a dazzling spectacle featuring over 184,000 lights, 36 Christmas trees, and 43 inflatables.

Visitors consistently praise the enchanting atmosphere and meticulous attention to detail. The illuminated pathways and festive decorations create a magical experience for families and holiday enthusiasts alike. The display's national recognition came in 2017 when it secured a first-place win on ABC's "The Great Christmas Light Fight," further cementing its status as a must-see holiday destination.

Beyond its visual appeal, Amarante's Winter Wonderland holds a deeper significance. Created by Daniel Amarante as a tribute to his late father, the display embodies a heartfelt memorial and a celebration of Christmas spirit. Visitors are encouraged to make donations on-site, with proceeds benefiting local charities, adding a philanthropic dimension to the festive experience.

The event is free to attend, with operating hours typically from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and extended hours on weekends. Guests can enhance their visit by enjoying hot chocolate from the gift shop and exploring holiday merchandise. I found out about this treasure trove after my mother had moved to Killingly, CT from our town in MA. She called me after discovering it, her voice giddy like a little girl on Christmas Eve, full of wonder and amazement. I had to see it! We now go and I take my son, now 3, and sometimes my sister comes with her children as well! She is the Ultimate Grandmother (Mammi) and brings my brother's kids when they visit too! What an incredible thing for a local family to do. An inspiring display of love, joy, and grace. All to spread the love the same way Christ showed love. And to remind us how important it is to see the world thru a child's eyes, to have that child-like faith. Thank you & glory to God...

Met the award winning Mr. Christmas Dan Amarante himself as he was greeting people and answering questions this evening 12/29/2018. Great personality with a positive outlook on life that I found refreshing. Plan on walking some, wear sturdy shoes and prepare for some soft, muddy spots as its been warm and wet this year. The majority of the walking paths are covered in hay/straw to help with the damp conditions. I can't get over all the new led bulbs that have been added since my last trip here a couple years ago. It's definitely worth a trip to the quiet corner to see this gem...

The most amazing beautiful light display I've ever seen!!! You can walk around the whole display in a path and see everything up close. Lots of places to take pics along the way. They have santa there on Sunday's. They have free hot chocolate and cookies. They also have delicious kettle corn. There's no charge to get in but at the end you can make a donation to a few different charities. We live an hour away and it was definitely worth the drive. Can't wait to take my parents here when they come up from FL. for Christmas. This is our new go to place for Christmas lights every year!!
