Amazing park! Huge! Definitely need either whole day with a lot of energy or multiple days to go through all the hiking trails that they have. Lots of picnic tables and little grills around for every one. The beach/lake is cute and they do have dressing rooms. (Unknown if they are open for use due to Covid) there are porta potties available as well. There is a lot of parking it looking a like in the park and it goes way down! There is parking fee for out of state cars. There’s another lake with a windmill and a red covered bridge. And this looked like it was a very beautiful boardwalk but it was closed when i went. Hopefully they will open it up soon! Biking is allowed on some trails. Ps. Make sure you take a picture of the trails before you go hiking!! Unless you are feeling adventurous! Very clean also so let’s keep it that way!

Heads up...the boardwalk is closed due to covid-19 and social distancing. Don't let this stop you from going. It's a big and beautiful park. The trails I hiked are well marked and very well maintained. Hiked the short yellow (Witches Hollow Trail). A nice variety with a happy surprise find. Hiked the purple to the covered bridge and the red trail to the water wheel. Both trails are nice with some navigating up, over and across boulders. Last, the orange, Deep Woods Trail!!!! Came up on some rock climbers, fun to watch! This is by far my favorite in this park. Although the park's restroom facilities are closed they have placed many portalet stations throughout which are kept clean.

A gorgeous state park truly deserving of the name hollow. There is a stream that winds and twists it's ways through the whole of the park there are even quaint covered bridges along the way. A great place to go for an afternoon cookout or a walk out in the fresh air. Check for open times though as with every outdoor venue in Connecticut it has different hours of operation depending on the time of year. The park is dog friendly however it is best to keep your dog leashed the park attracts lots of visitors in the summer and it is a wilderness area so of course wild animals do exist. Bathroom facilities are Port o lets however they are kept very clean, relatively speaking.

This place has such a cool marsh boardwalk. Right now (November) the paved road is closed. It's a nice easy flat walk. A few trails going into the woods,a covered bridge, a small cave is by the entrance parking lot as well. There is a lake in the middle with a beach which seemed like a nice place to vibe when its warmer out. Plenty of porto-potties spread throughout the place. Seems like a stellar place to walk your dog and/or bring the baby in a stoller.

Chatfield Hollow State Park is a fantastic mix of terrains, landmarks and recreational and educational opportunities. With trails and walkways having a wide variety of accessabilty, the park is available to anyone. There is a nice swimming area (unguarded), new toilet facilities and an informative nature center. Be sure to also check out the mill pond and water wheel and the covered bridge over one of many babbling brooks, stocked with trout.
