I can not say enough about this amazing place. I have been going there for 36 years. I still remember my first time when I was in kindergarten. I was blown away by the animals and nature center. Obviously there have been updates but it still amazes me every time I go. We love the planetarium, the star/sun gazing. The only thing we have not done is the Zipline! The trails are well maintained and beautiful no matter the season. If you are afraid of heights be sure and do the hike to the fire tower. You will get over that fear quick just from the sheer beauty seen from the top! I began taking my kids when they were able to walk. My husband proposed to me here. We were married here. I have been on every trail dozens of times! I have actually begged them to let me live there lol Go one time and you will...

I went with 2 family members to watch feeding of the wolves, the barge ride on the lake, then the planetarium. We all had such a great time & learned so much. I strongly suggest getting a membership to Bays Mountain family plan. $60/yr. All of that including parking is included & we didn't have to pay any extra. Just doing that twice pays for membership alone. I absolutely love going to planetarium w/ the spouse & walking around the lake & looking at all the animals. What a beautiful park & amazing knowledgeable friendly staff. We got to see wild deer, turtles, & birds on the barge ride. The 2 park staff explained all about the wolves & took questions from people. So blessed I live in Kingsport & this is available. Looking forward to doing more there, they have so many different events. 100% worth...

Limited exhibits but worthwhile for children. Good presentation on planetarium. However, gift shop is not conscious that most children is their clientele. Their prices are exuberant regarding the clientele. You get better items from a fair site than is there. Small stuff animals retail cost of less than a dollar are sold for ten. It's unfair to the little ones which are given limited funding. Suggest, reconsidering pricing adequately for children. After all, isn't that the purpose of such enterprise? I give the gift shop a...

I have loved this lovely gem of a city park my whole life. They are starting to do a lot of updates and I am very excited to see what is on the horizon for my toddler son to enjoy. Right now he is a big fan of the planetarium shows and the watershed which is home to some native fish and turtles. They have a kids crawl-through cave, and lots of other informative and interactive displays in the nature center including a super cool honeybee exhibit. The trails, the lake, and the programs are all wonderful as well.
