MUST VISIT for anyone traveling near this city. This place is beautiful. The park has a great WALKING TRAIL that takes you around the entire park and views of the LAKE FRONT. Be prepared to see and hear alot WILDLIFE mainly SQUIRRELS and DUCKS. HISTORIC STRUCTURES on site. These structures are being restored but it is still fun and interesting to see and read about the history of this area. As you are walking on the trail there is EXERCISE EQUIPMENT such as pull up bars and walking beams. If walking is not for you then bring your gear and get a game of DISC GOLF started. I am not sure how many "holes" this course has but i am sure it will challenge players at all levels of expertise. Childrens PLAYGROUND area to take the little ones. SOCCER FIELDS and BASEBALL FIELDS on site. PAVILIONS are available for use/rent. RESTROOMS and PARKING on site and are HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE. Grounds are very WELL MAINTAINED. This park is set up very nice and all features were maximized to...

Our history at it's best, a beautiful location to visit and to just step back into a time and place when our nation was just beginning to be a nation. One can only think what life " must" have been like at this location during the late 1700s. A fort that was build to protect the settlers from the native americans attacks or was it a fort build on the native american lands " without" permission which caused those attacks to begin with will always be an ongoing debate depending on how a person feels today about how the native americans were treated during that " phase" of our nations development. Either way, it is worth a visit to see this part of our history and that great lake that now borders it. There was on site rest rooms at the vistors center, there was a frizbee trail /course, the park is dog friendly and very well maintained. I also noticed an area for music to be played with some seating by the lake. And some pinic tables in the...

To describe this place is a one word adjective, amazing! What an incredible asset to the history of middle Tennessee. And from talking to the curator very, few people know about it. To have such a place, and a curator that cares so much for the history and importance of it, truly should be both treasured, and screamed from the mountain tops that surround it. My husband, and family will be coming back as soon as it is at all possible. To everyone in Tennessee( from a Michigander that doesn't have a place like this) take your families, and tell your friends to take theirs, because it's only going to get better in the...

While we got there just after they closed, and were unable to view the Knowledge Center with the artifacts, it was still awesome to walk up to the fort and view the buildings and read the placards about each thing on the site. My daughter enjoyed running around and seeing everything, and we read the signs together - fun, quick, little outing with some local Tennessee history. My husband loves the disc golf course here as well, 18 holes both in and out of the trees, marked well and maintained perfectly. We will definitely be coming back when they're open to see the inside of the buildings!
