The park itself looks beautiful for what little we saw of it. We reserved a site for the weekend in Campground 2 for our 29 foot camper, and the gravel site was so uneven that it was not safe for us to stay there. We tried to get the camper level for over an hour both length and width, and the camper ended up sliding backwards and thankfully stopping before it hit a tree or went too far down, but the site was nowhere CLOSE to level. It was unsafe, especially since one of our slide outs for a bed would have been in the declining part of the site.

They shouldn't be allowing reservations for anything very big at Campground 2, particularly not the site we reserved. It was by far the most unlevel site we've ever stayed at.

We had site 051, and I recommend avoiding it. The entire spot is on a hill, so it's not comfortable in any way, even if the pad had been more level. It would have been impossible to relax around the fire.

We called the number to try to get help before leaving and never did get a call back all weekend. This was over 4th of July weekend, so maybe they were gone due to that, but it's obviously a busy weekend for camping.

It looks like Campground 1 is much better. I would love to go back and explore the park, but we will either camp elsewhere or get a site in Campground 1. They must have agreed that it was unacceptable though, because we did get a refund for our site when I called to let them know we weren't staying and why. I hope they address it on their site for reservations to avoid issues for others...

When we called to reserve using the national number they were professional, happy to reserve and take our money. When we called twice on our way to say we were running late, the website said to call for late arrivals. They never returned the call—anytime during the afternoon. We showed up after a 10 hour drive, not sure what would happen. No one there. Another RV pulled up shorty after us with same story.

We are all standing there when a gal comes down from the rv area in a golf cart—-whew finally! Well she looked drugged out, complained about the heat in the building and lack of air conditioning. Very unprofessional and clueless. The phone rang while she was helping me and she said she wasn’t going to answer it. Obviously, she wasn’t going to answer or return calls at all from the mid afternoon on.

We received gate code and choice of 4 places but our pull through that we hadn’t paid for in advance was already filled. Found a spot not too level, electrical door fell off when we tried to plug in but seems to be fine campground if it wasn’t for...

We have been going to the cabins with a group for almost 20 years and I hate to say but the past few years the cabins seem to be going downhill. We rent an entire cabin and the kitchen which has not been stocked with pots and pans. Last year when we have to ask for them the kitchen manager was mad and rude about having to furnish them. I have been taking cleaning supplies for the bathrooms for the past few years and I am by no means a "clean freak". Last July one of our cabin doors didn't have a window or screen which we reported and we were there for 7 days and no one came to look at it. Please take your duct tape to tape up the vents on the ac because they haven't oscillated for a few years so we tape them up to keep them from blowing down on us at night. If you wonder why we have kept going it is because of our friends and family and the time with them and the beautiful view but this year we will make other...

Oh....my....goodness!!!! I can not give our 3 day stay enough stars!! My first time visiting...my boyfriend's family has been every year for the past 25 years, that alone says something!!! The view was amazing from our cabin. Great time on the lake, you can rent boats and go tubing, kayaking, hiking!! The restaurant was so accommodating. We were a party of 10. Not sure of our servers name (Wednesday night 7pm reservation) but she was freaking fantastic!!! Can not wait to book another stay!!!

One of the nicest Missouri State parks. Camp host is the nicest woman goes out of her way to make sure everything is ok. Restrooms and showers are clean and well taken care of. The lake has a restaurant and we plan to go there this fall when we come back. Nicely paved bike trail also a hiking trail which we did not get to use from all the rain we got. Will be back again. Also 10 mins from Kirksville which has everything you need if run out of anything. Including a Walmart.

Very clean public bathroom and showers, had a playground for my kids, nice/new paved path to take scooters and bikes with my kids, had a great time at the beach. My only complaint was the camp host. He immediately confronted us and made us feel bad and uncomfortable bc we had children. (We were looking for the playground.) He did the same thing to another group who just arrived. Though, overall, very impressed with this campground.
