The Kalberer Emergent Tower at Holden Arboretum isn’t just a structure; it’s a gateway to the sky. This towering feat allows visitors to ascend above the treetops, offering an unprecedented view of the surrounding landscape and a bird’s-eye perspective on the forest canopy. As you climb the 120-foot tower, each step brings a new level of excitement and a little more of the breathtaking panorama into view. Once at the top, you’re rewarded with sweeping vistas that stretch out to Lake Erie on a clear day. It’s an exhilarating experience, blending adventure with the serene beauty of nature. Here’s a tip: Visit during different seasons to witness the remarkable transformation of the landscape. The lush greens of summer, the fiery colors of fall, and the stark beauty of winter each offer a unique backdrop for your ascent. So, if you’re seeking a mix of adventure and nature, the Kalberer Emergent Tower is a must-experience. It’s more than just a climb; it’s an opportunity to rise above the ordinary and see the world from a magnificent new perspective. Just remember, what goes up must come down, so take your time and enjoy the view!

For a small fee of $20 per adult for access to the entire gardens, this tower is worth the scenic walk to it through carefully manicured manmade landscaping and natural beauty as a background. We went on a Sunday so there weren't a lot of visitors and no wait to climb it. I will admit that as we approached it, it did become a bit daunting, but we started the climb up the very sturdy staircase and at each level had the opportunity to rest if needed. They have signs marking how many steps you've taken and the views get more breathtaking as you ascend. As you get closer to the top you will feel some swaying, which is quite natural and expected. The last staircase is a spiral set made of steel which leads you to the very open and massive panaramic view of above the tree tops. It extends a few feet into the skyline and over the trees, and it is an awesome site to see if you can get over the height of it all. Going down was a breeze and people are very gracious to step aside as needed. Well worth the experience and I will definitely take more friends with me to see this incredible site line of Lake County.
