Pretty bare-bones unless you have the equipment to take adventage of the area. Plenty of playgrounds; ours had corn hole, and they have a haphazard disc golf course - could've been the weather more than anything, but it was a muddy trek. Im not sure the manner which their reservation system works, but it plopped us right next to another family in an area with one other group of people around, and 40 vacant camping lots.. so we moved. Their information desk seems to close at 4pm on Friday, so you might be up to your own devices once passed that time over the weekend.
The view of the sunset at site 34-36 is why I'd go back, and the bike trail along the river bank is very scenic. An officer surveyed the park as the sun went down, too.
There's a nice little mom n pop icecream shop nearby with delicious, hand-dipped, handmade icecream. Have a plan for firewood because there arent a lot of conventional options nearby, except the local residents. Their beach could use some TLC. 'Beach' is actually pretty generous - more a muddy river bank. People mostly fished, so good news for those types. Read moreMy first rodeo and it won't be the last! It was an amazing time! Good food! Fun people! Loved the clown, bull riding and audience participation! **Gave 4 stars because there is not enough handicapped seating, I mean 6 chairs and 3-4 people per 1 handicapped person. You do the math! I was forced to attempt climbing bleacher seats which was dangerous for me. Almost fell! With that many people in this area needing special seating, it certainly was not provided. I'd like to go back but it needs to change. Secondly, I only met two nice vendors. If you didn't have cash for some, they basically turned their...
Read moreEvery other place here is cool but the part that you swim in. It was very nasty. Me and my mother went here just to see what it was like and when we got there, there was no parking, the sand had pieces of glass in it that I cut my foot on, there was a lot of bird poop floating in the water that you swim in so we didn't get in, and even if we wanted to get in the water, the dressing rooms are a far walk from where you can swim. It was just generally a bad experience. The camp grounds are nice though and we were able to find a lot of mushrooms and take a lot...
