This is a nice little multi-use wooded trail, and if you're in the area and your family is at the giant outlet shopping center and you need to kill 4 or 5 hours, this is a short drive from town and for me, worth the time. There are no real "views" or anything but it's a nice nature hike, and you can make it longer or shorter by taking the side trails and shortcuts.
Once I rode my old school mountain bike on a portion of the main trails, and enjoyed that as well, though I wouldn't call it a "modern" trail, it still was nice and wooded and quiet. All main trails should be rideable by older kids and novice adults alike.
There are, as the name suggests, plenty of hills, but they're not crazy. The surface is a mix of loamy and hard pack dirt with plenty of sticks and roots to remind you you're in the woods. Logging can also be a problem. There is a section on the the north loop that has been destroyed by logging equipment. Wet swampy areas are really not bad and make up a very small percentage of the system. Generally scenic and...
Read moreDecent mountain biking experience in an area of Michigan that doesn't have many trails. There is one part that is really hard to climb and a downhill section that had me go 30+ MPH. It's worth the time if you are in the area. There is also the Rifle River Recreation Area in this area. I would say this trail beats the Rifle River trail easily. There are very few people on this...
