I visited The phantom ship overlook on a sunny day and I was amazed by the stunning views of Crater Lake and the Phantom Ship island. The trail was easy and short, only 0.9 miles long, and it took me through a beautiful meadow and a forest of hemlock trees. The Phantom Ship is a natural rock formation that looks like a ghostly ship with masts and sails. It is the oldest lava formation in the caldera, dating back to 400,000 years ago. I enjoyed taking photos of this unique island from different angles and learning about its history from the interpretive signs.
