I really hate giving this farm 2 stars because I love supporting local & I had such high hopes after reading a few reviews. We visited Sat 5/3. It was our first time & we came specifically to pick strawberriesβ¦a bucket for us & a bucket as a gift for Teacher Appreciation Week. First, I have to say $20 a bucket was quite steep, but I conceded & figured 2 buckets full of big, juicy, sweet strawberries would be worth it in the end. Unfortunately that was not the case. I didnβt think much about it at the time, but this nice girl stopped us on our way down to the fields & said she had picked too many berries for her to eat alone & offered to give us some of hers to start us out. I just thought it was a nice gesture at the time, but now I believe she did that because she knew there werenβt many decent berries out there. My son & I spent 2 hours in the fields going up & down every row trying to find decent berries. Most of them were either over-ripe or already bad, & tiny or not ripe. We struggled to fill our baskets, even with the generous donation from the nice girl we met on the way in. And the berries that we did end up picking, over half of them were inedible in less than a day. I was able to at least salvage enough berries to give a little to each of my sons teachers, but we were left with none for us. So in actuality I payed $40 for a little more than 1/2 a basket of berries. Left me extremely disappointed & annoyed at how much I spent for so few berries. They really should have some sort of quality assessment system for the strawberry fields in place & adjust pricing accordingly. And honestly most everything was pricey, esp items in the general store. And Iβll also echo the same sentiment as other reviewersβ¦charging $6+ for kids to enjoy the playground esp after spending so much money on everything else just makes it feel like its all about the money. I spent over $100 between the buckets, playground fee, our food & our general store purchases. Just my humble opinion, but playground time should be complimentary with a purchase, as a thank you for coming out & supporting the farm. I will say all of the staff were very welcoming & helpful & the ice cream was great, which is where the 2 stars come in. Unfortunately that was our first & last time supporting...
Β Β Β Read moreIβm giving this place 2 stars bc it started off as a great visit. My friend and I did a mom meet up to bring our daughters for strawberry picking and some fun. As it was nearing the end of our visit and closing we took ours kids to the playground. After playing for about a good 15 minutes, we were rounding up our children to go and the manager came to tell me that I was supposed to pay for my child to get in. I said oh, I didnβt know, Iβll go pay now. He proceeds to tell me that I donβt have to pay, that I can leave, and how itβs not right that others had to pay and we didnβt, and that the sign was right there. I told him again I did not see the sign and I can go pay now. He continues to tell me that, no you donβt have to, just leave, and they were about to close anyways(it was 5:30), as to say your money is not good enough. He says something to my friend as well. He also expressed that you have needed a wrist band to get in, which when I reviewed the videos I had of the playground, all kids were not wearing a band. In addition, the sign that says something about an entry fee is faded. I went to ask to speak to the manager or owner and come to find out he was the manager, to whom I had no interest in speaking to. I did express to him how he handled the matter was not professional, and how I felt that he pulled a racist move, bc everyone did not have a band. He told me l, oh donβt pull that card. I definitely feel like we were targeted being that we were the only blacks out there. The remaining of the staff we encountered were super helpful and friendly, and would have loved to visit again. Never in my years have I felt so blatantly...
Β Β Β Read moreI have visited Grasshopper Farms multiple times in the past, but the experience I just had was appalling and ensures I will never return. Visited 10/17/25
After placing my order, and with no one else in line, I handed my card to the cashier. At that moment, a customer who had previously been served came storming out, walked right up next to me, and rudely shoved their card at the cashier to pay for an additional item. This customer didn't say "excuse me" or acknowledge my presence.
What was truly shocking was that the cashier immediately stopped processing my payment to handle the rude customer's transaction. She did not ask the other customer to wait, nor did she prioritize the person already at the checkout phase. She only apologized to me after she had finished assisting the rude individual.
This incident showed me that Grasshopper Farms clearly does not value me as a consumer. While my initial thought was to leave immediately, we stayed only because we had promised our child the use of the play area. However, I will not spend another dollar here. The lack of basic customer service and the willingness to let one customer disrespect another and then reward that rudeness is completely...
