White Sands Beach — Attraction in Kodiak Island

This beach is my favorite so far on Kodiak Island. It's in a nice protected cove with very small waves providing an easy place for kids to play at the edge of the water. Very special beach with such a shallow rise to it that the tide goes out probably 200 yd so there's lots of shallow water, good for kids to play in. My theory about the designs and swirls the sand makes is that the white sand and black sand have different densities, so as the waves ripple through the sand, it causes them to lay out in patterns, very beautiful.
