This was our first water rafting experience. I had planned this trip for about a month so I had done some research before deciding to book with AVA. We were a family of 4, 2 adults and one 7 year old and one 10 year old. We did the level 1 half a day " float" experience on the Colorado River at 9 am. The guides are really fun. They enjoy their job. My guide was more on the quiet side but its not a big deal. The views you get in this experience are breathtaking. Just stunning views of mountains and forest. My group was originally 7 and we were split up. I would have liked to have known in advanced that we needed to clarify if we were going to be in a group. No one told me and honestly I wasn't aware of the time and strategy that is put in place to give us a safe experience. Also I had originally wanted to book another rafting trip but when I called they let me know the website was not updated and the age had changed. Updating the site would be helpful. I forgot my waterproof cellphone necklace and that is my fault but I'd just like to suggest selling some at the gift shop. you will get wet, there are about 2 to 3 rapids you go over and some splashing with water guns. Take sunblock, water shoes and bug spray. Over all an awesome experience. I will...

I called to rent a kayak and was told $54 by the young lady that answered and she said her manager would call me later. Didn’t say why but I assumed for payment. She explained where to put the kayak and gear after hours and that the paddles, helmet and life jackets were included in the price. Later John calls and tells me that the paddles were $10 each and the fee was $59. Ok no problem. He sent me an email with the quote with a $20 surcharge and now my bill would be $99. I thought about it and decided that the lack communication was unprofessional and wasn’t even worth giving them money and possibly dealing with anymore miscommunication.

6-24-24 Just to be fair to your company. I received a phone call with an apology that you had a new billing system and it was making mistakes and that you were sorry. I appreciated that very much and so my wife made the reservation the following weekend and we rented a kayak from you. When she picked it up she was charged $25 more for the pump to pump it up. Like I said appreciate your apology but the fact that your company has a hard time with keeping a price and your employees don’t know what the prices include is frustrating. Thanks for your response and best...

We have rafted here previously and had awesome experiences both time. Our guides on the bus were entertaining and encouraging laughs. They gave clear instructions. And most importantly, told us how to help get someone in the raft if they fell out. Not this time.

This year was a huge disappointment. We wanted our 10 year old great grandson to experience rafting. He was mostly allowed to just sitting in the middle on the floor. The guide finally left him paddle, but it was only for a short time near the end.

Buying the pictures was a joke. Previous years we had multiple pictures at various points along the river. This year there were multiple pictures of our raft at the same location with some other pictures of flowers, nature, etcetera, that are promotional pictures. Big big disappointment .

We also were put with 2 guys and their little children . One kid, who was probably 6, tried to paddle but he wasn't able to follow the tempo and kept hitting our grandson's paddle. It was not fun.

The highlight was only when our grandson (and others) climbed up the cliff and jump down...

We had the BEST time!!! We easily booked online, and the arrival and set up went so fast and smoothly. Justin was our tour guide, and he made it so fun for us! We had a group of six, ages ranging from 12 - 48 years old, and Justin made it fun for all! We got to jump off a cliff side, and we played games throughout our ride. We never stopped laughing and smiling! Justin was very knowledgeable about the area, and made us laugh with all his jokes! I’m not exactly sure what our driver’s name was, but I think his name was John. He was so friendly too, and you can tell him and Justin enjoyed working together, and they both loved telling jokes and keeping us entertained, and they knew so much about the area. We will book again through AVA, and next time we’ll try a more challenging ride, because water rafting was a blast! Make sure to purchase the picture package! It was only $60 for ALL the pictures! Worth every penny! They even included pictures of wildlife that’s in the area, which was such a nice bonus!

Excellent experience and fantastic guides. Beautiful and scenic experience. The water wasn’t moving super fast (I think around 800 cfm) …. So there were rapids followed by moments of chilled tranquility and taking in the scenery. Felt like the team that got us there and back were a well oiled machine - just streamlined fun time. Jackson was our lead guy. And Olivia we also awesome (as well as others). Highly recommended. I was a little nervous about the water temp … The water was about 58 degrees. But it wasn’t uncomfortable at all. It actually felt great. Which I couldn’t believe - because I’ve swam in springfed pools that are about 68° that felt much colder.

We were looking for a rafting company that could take our 6 yr old out. AVA was the only one I could find to accommodate. We went as a family, our 4th grader too. We had a great guide, Steve. Be warned: he has an arsenal of bad jokes that will delight your kids. It was a really great, professional experience. We were very pleased. The Colorado River section we were on was mild, but we got some excitement for the boys and a cliff jumping stop for all ages. We would use AVA again, but hopefully next time one of their other locations with more exciting waters when the boys are older!
