This was our first water rafting experience. I had planned this trip for about a month so I had done some research before deciding to book with AVA. We were a family of 4, 2 adults and one 7 year old and one 10 year old. We did the level 1 half a day " float" experience on the Colorado River at 9 am. The guides are really fun. They enjoy their job. My guide was more on the quiet side but its not a big deal. The views you get in this experience are breathtaking. Just stunning views of mountains and forest. My group was originally 7 and we were split up. I would have liked to have known in advanced that we needed to clarify if we were going to be in a group. No one told me and honestly I wasn't aware of the time and strategy that is put in place to give us a safe experience. Also I had originally wanted to book another rafting trip but when I called they let me know the website was not updated and the age had changed. Updating the site would be helpful. I forgot my waterproof cellphone necklace and that is my fault but I'd just like to suggest selling some at the gift shop. you will get wet, there are about 2 to 3 rapids you go over and some splashing with water guns. Take sunblock, water shoes and bug spray. Over all an awesome experience. I will...
Read moreI called to rent a kayak and was told $54 by the young lady that answered and she said her manager would call me later. Didn’t say why but I assumed for payment. She explained where to put the kayak and gear after hours and that the paddles, helmet and life jackets were included in the price. Later John calls and tells me that the paddles were $10 each and the fee was $59. Ok no problem. He sent me an email with the quote with a $20 surcharge and now my bill would be $99. I thought about it and decided that the lack communication was unprofessional and wasn’t even worth giving them money and possibly dealing with anymore miscommunication.
6-24-24 Just to be fair to your company. I received a phone call with an apology that you had a new billing system and it was making mistakes and that you were sorry. I appreciated that very much and so my wife made the reservation the following weekend and we rented a kayak from you. When she picked it up she was charged $25 more for the pump to pump it up. Like I said appreciate your apology but the fact that your company has a hard time with keeping a price and your employees don’t know what the prices include is frustrating. Thanks for your response and best...
Read moreWe have rafted here previously and had awesome experiences both time. Our guides on the bus were entertaining and encouraging laughs. They gave clear instructions. And most importantly, told us how to help get someone in the raft if they fell out. Not this time.
This year was a huge disappointment. We wanted our 10 year old great grandson to experience rafting. He was mostly allowed to just sitting in the middle on the floor. The guide finally left him paddle, but it was only for a short time near the end.
Buying the pictures was a joke. Previous years we had multiple pictures at various points along the river. This year there were multiple pictures of our raft at the same location with some other pictures of flowers, nature, etcetera, that are promotional pictures. Big big disappointment .
We also were put with 2 guys and their little children . One kid, who was probably 6, tried to paddle but he wasn't able to follow the tempo and kept hitting our grandson's paddle. It was not fun.
The highlight was only when our grandson (and others) climbed up the cliff and jump down...
