I first entered the White Deer Lake trail entrance in the mid 1970's before it was open to the public. Four of us carried canoes in and we camped inside the main lodge on the lake. There was an abundance of firewood already split for use in the fireplace making it very comfortable for late autumn. On another trip we hiked into the north entrance from the Triple A Rd. along the headwaters of the Yellow Dog to Bulldog Lake. Read moreIf you are prepared and have lots of time it’s a wild place! Extremely long hike on a trail that has fallen into disrepair. The first quarter of the hike is ok but the rest is deep mud, crossing streams, and overgrown areas. It’s a beautiful spot, but once you reach the muddy area you should turn around it dosent get better… took me an hour and a half to walk back with no stops at a fast pace, too easy to get lost or lose track of time while in there and notable it out...
