Free entry. 4 mile drive on dirt road once off the main road. My Hyundai sonata made it. Theres not a lot of soft sand but just be careful and prepared with supplies in case you get stuck in soft sand. Able to camp along the 4 miles if dirt road to a certain point. Closer to the parking lot and at the lookout no camping. No one was there when I went so not busy area. No bathrooms or water. Pack up supplies you'll need. Beautiful! Small grand canyon. Really cool lookout. Cool lizards. Some information posted along the way was informational. Id say careful walking along the edge. Sandy so you can slide. Trail that went off into the canyons a bit. Don't know any info on how far or how hard. Definitely was hot so be prepared depending on what season your visiting in. Dogs not allowed. Signs posted informing their impact on the area and wildlife.

What an incredible place to visit! Like many others have stated you want a 4WD to get here. Not sure how people get lost, there is a sign off the highway to Fonts Point and then you just follow the main road.

Saw a car stuck with a friendly Jeep pulling them out. Had to wait a couple minutes to go around them. Very busy on the weekend before sunset and once you watch the sunset you see why.

This whole area is open to dry camping so if staying for the night bring lots of water and pack...

It's a must see day trip from San Diego! I had a front wheel drive vehicle and it made it without getting stuck. You have to keep a good and consistent speed to make it through the sandy sections . I was going about 30mph and we had great fun just driving up and down BUT I would...
