Buckeye Woods Park — Attraction in Lafayette Township

Great Park, first time here, I loved it. It's beautiful. Several different trails to walk, or run. You can even pick up a bike and take on the trails. There is an asphalt path that goes around the fishing pond. Along this trail there are benches to sit taking nature. At the end of this trail you will connect you to the wetlands Restoration pond. This trail is a crushed stone pathway. There is no shade on this trail so be prepared. I had plenty of bird sightings from yellow chickadees, swifts, and even a turkey vulture. Also picked up a sighting of I believe a red-headed crane, but I think it was just a blue heron. Plenty of butterflies along the way. At the end of this path it brings you to a old renovated barn. There is also a restroom at the end of this path. Continuing on the path you will come up on a observation deck looking over the wetlands. There are all sorts of flowers, trees, and water throughout your walk. There's a small playgrounds area with a few climbing apparatuses and swings. I feel this is for younger kids. They also have soccer and baseball fields. There is plenty of room and there is a gazebo and plenty of picnic tables throughout the area. From the parking lot you can also pick up the Schleman's Nature...

Absolutely beautiful park with a wide selection of activities. For the more leisurely walkers or fitness-focused runners, there are several lovely paved paths through light woods and around the pond. For the nature lovers and hikers, choose from the several long gravel trails through the dense and tall forest, winding every which way. For families with little ones, a playground, picnic shelter, and soccer field will keep them well-occupied! We love taking our children here to play and walk the paths. The only thing that I'm not particular about is all the bikes that people ride on these paths. I can understand when they say left or right (meaning that's the side they're riding on), but my smaller children do not. I like the pond here. My children enjoy seeing the fish come to the surface.
