We took my 3 year old to Sunflower Days and we had a lot of fun walking through the sunflowers. Although, that was pretty much all we could do. Nothing else was open, we were told that was due to staffing which I totally understand, but we paid full price for admission and didn't get to enjoy really any of the activities that we saw online. All the stuff for kids to do was closed, even the playset. The store was closed as well. So we paid full price ($8 each for adults, child was free) just to walk through a field and pick a few flowers (that cost extra on top of admission.) If absolutely nothing else is open you could at least cut back on the admission prices that day. It looks like you could easily spend 2 to 3 hours there with all the things to do and browsing the store. I'd recommend calling ahead to ensure they have their activities open before you make the drive and pay full price. It's just kind of silly to have to pay full price admission to only be able to walk through the maze and/or pick flowers that cost you more money. Beautiful place, looked super fun had everything been open, friendly owners, and cute little vendors set up! Overall, we enjoyed our trip there and intend to return for the fall activities, but I'll be calling ahead to make sure things will be fully open before I make...
Read moreWe have had a family gathering (of about 50 family members) here EVERY year since it opened. We love it and love seeing how it's grown...HOWEVER .HATE THE PARKING SITUATION especially for my NOT so mobile Mom and injured family members or other aging people in the family. Can I offer a suggestion?? If you aren't going to allow drop offs at the entrance and make an 80+year old woman walk a mile from the car to the fire pit....then offer golf cart rides...maybe like a mini, in-park uber...and or a trolly that gathers people from the parking lots to the entrance and from the entrance to areas of the parking lots. Or cart /scooter rentals. We live in Michigan and around Lake Michigan...we have 2-6 person bike carts and wheelchairs to use on the beach or downtown areas. If they can make an all terrain wheel chair or cart that can go on a beach....they surely could invent something to assist those who need some assistance in the mobility department. Not everyone has the ability of walking long distances but still have a desire to...
Read moreExploration Acres is my absolute favorite place to go for my annual corn maze adventure! I have been going for more than a decade, and it has been fascinating watching this place grow and expand. The pumpkins are always fun to look at, and I can always count on finding the perfect one when I’m looking to buy. The food and drink options only improve each year. The fire pits allow groups to have a center point while challenging themselves in the maze. Perhaps my favorite thing about this place is that it’s not a standard maze. Instead, it’s usually 3-5 mazes connected by a theme and contained within a rectangle. The objective isn’t merely to find the center but rather to find certain checkpoints that can then become valid coupons once hole punched. Having been in both daylight and night, both provide unique aspects that make the maze difficult and fun. I cannot recommend this place enough! 100 gold stars. It is a must-see-and-do place in...
