What a life changing experience! Booked the meet and greet but was 10min late. REALLY thankful I was able to be let in still, Even though I was late.

Edit/update. Hi! Brenden here... Booked a second meet and greet tour while I was down their on 07/30/24. Since my first tour, I was late on and wanted the full experience. I got some REALLY amazing photos that I consider PURE gold. They are THAT good to me, heh :) You guys gotta see them. The white one is Makuee, and the black one with black fur on his back is Keyni. I mean, the photos speak for themselves, but I'll provide some background on them.

After receiving a sudden toothy wolf kiss from Makuee :) Ha! Ha! I certainly made sure to return the affection to her. Now, I won't reveal all my secrets, but I definitely returned the affection in kind :) she trying to bury her head into my lap, responding with a soft tremble as I rubbed her gently a certain way, leaning into my touch, standing still for me and even laying down close by on her belly for a second, just a very sweet, touching moment... Funnily enough, Keyni came up to me and let out a jealous growl in the middle of the toothy wolf kiss from Makuee heh :) while the guide said, "Don't be afraid, he does that." Ha! Ha! I was too busy smiling and chuckling with the attention from Makuee to feel afraid or bothered by him in the moment.

Though they certainly can get protective of one another, and can lash out in warning suddenly, especially during breeding season. But I'm glad it all ended happily, though! :)

I wonder if their is a hall of fame for wolf kisses heh... I'd like to think I would be a solid contender. Ha! :)

I got 4770 views on my photos and 286 views on my written original review as of these words. That's crazy, just insane to me. Well, I hope you all enjoy these new photos! :)

Thank you for the kind response, I really appreciate that.👍 A special thanks to the volunteers to, that work tirelessly in all types of weather also.

(First tour). Got to pet and scratch Orenda. Ahh... I found her scratchy spot.. mmm :) she REALLY enjoyed getting scratches from her side there, thumping her leg in pleasure as I scratched her haha :) Also was able to command her to sit and posed with her for some pictures, Under the watchful eye of the guide, as he told me to stay away from her back end when giving pets, Appreciate that, liability waiver or not I don't want to get bit! :) Isha was a shy guy... but he did get close to a couple near me, was able to admire him which is good enough for me I guess :) Afterwards a educational tour started with walking around the place.

Elijah was a great tour guide! it's unbelievable how much knowledge he has of all the animals, and the history of the sanctuary! Yes he is a fast talker, but it looks like they run a tight ship over there... somtimes ya gotta talk a bit fast before a tour before you over takes you it seems. Just be ready to listen! Heh, and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Another HUGE thanks to Elijah, (edit, not Elijah apparently, can't remember his name though). Well, thanks for the photos here, captured the moments very well, absolutely love them. :)

What a gorgeous gift shop to! Definitely got some things. Maybe to much... na, heh. I also recommend the book "midnight a wolf's tale" they have their. Will definitely recommend this sanctuary wherever you are. This place is TRULY special and unique. Most Sanctuary's of it's kind, don't allow you to physically, meet and interact with their wolf's and other critters and such due to many reasons... liability and insurance reasons and costs mostly. Few sanctuaries are able to provide that benefit to the public, and to it's volunteers, if wanting to help with hands on type of work, which is the best kind of work heh.

Came from Washington, seeing this sanctuary and the other attractions of Colorado made the drive worth it to me. Embarrassed to say, but got a bit tearful and shed a few tears driving away, was quite impactful to me; I hope a certain sanctuary in Washington will understand my...

We did the feeding tour and it was around $90 for 2 adults and 2 children. Our kids are 10 and 13. We had a wonderful experience here. The guides are very knowledgeable and many of them seem to really care about the wolves.

I have read a few reviews from people who have had experiences where they felt "put off" by the comments or experience they had with the guides. It does seem that the guides do have a somewhat stern type of approach to what they say and how they enforce their rules. But after seeing it first hand I honestly believe it's necessary. I've also seen reviews from people who were upset that the guides were "pushing a political agenda". They are, after all, a care center with the objective of saving and preserving wildlife. So why people would be confused about getting "lectured" on wolves and having "an agenda pushed down throats" at the start of the tour is a little confusing to me. I would expect them to do that. They want to save wolves, reintroduce them to the wild and preserve the species. Of course they're going to push that. As far as the rule enforcement goes or the demeanor of the guides-They enforce the rules in a matter of fact manner because there are people who simply don't listen or follow rules. At the start of the tour they tell you not to lean over the railing/guards. When one of our guides first spoke about that it caught me off guard because she wasn't very friendly about it and seemed a little angry. Well within 5 minutes I realized why they have those rules and why they are so stern when they explain them. Several times during the tour they had to ask people to STOP leaning over the railing. It was ridiculous. People were hanging over that thing trying to take selfies and several people had younger children with them who were just wandering off and sitting in between the railings. So the guides and their rules might seem excessive or mean but you get the feeling that they deal with people breaking the rules quite often. I dont really have anything negative to say about the staff other than that some of them seem detached and annoyed. Not enough to ruin or impact our visit but just enough to notice. And as far as negative feelings about the experience itself goes... the behavior of some of the animals- both wolves and fox seemed a little bit odd to me. Some of them seemed frightened-almost as if they were afraid to get struck or hurt, specifically the foxes. They would hunch over or cower a few times when a guide got a little too close. I definitely don't want to say that they are in anyway being abused or not taken care of-however it was a enough to make you wonder why they acted that way. It could have been just because it was feeding time and some of them did fight a bit with each other over their food.......however it seemed a little odd that these animals would almost run from the people that they see every single day and who feed them and care for them. It was just a little weird. I have also heard some negative things about the owner. I dont know her personally but I have heard that she is not as concerned with the welfare of the animals as one might expect her to be. I'm not sure where all of the money that they make goes (some of the experiences and tours are hundreds of dollars and they seem to have no problem getting dozens of people a day to pay that) But I am hoping it does go back into the center and to the wolves and other animals.

I do want to say that guide that we had (I forgot his name!!)spoke about each individual wolf in such a way that it truly seemed HE cared very much for them. Again, I forgot his name but he is visible in a few of my photos and he was very kind. The wolves didnt seem to be afraid of him at all.

Overall we really enjoyed ourselves. It was definitely a positive and very educational experience and it was a lot of fun. You do get to see the wolves up close even though there is a barrier and a railing between the fence and you. The barrier doesn't take away from it at all and it still feels like an up close and...

My wife and I drove from Tennessee to Colorado for our honeymoon. Interestingly enough, we are both very passionate about wolves and we ourselves have two beautiful wolf dog rescues (Koda Bear and Odin). So when we found out that our honeymoon spot was right down the road from the CWWC we were ecstatic!

We called to set up our tour, which included a meet and greet with two incredibly special wolves named Makuee and Keyni. The staff was extremely helpful and told us what to wear, what time to be there, and they even made a second phone call to confirm the day before our appointment. Ours was set for 8:45 am with our meet and greet kicking off by 9:00 am. We got there a little earlier to have a chance to look around the gift shop.

When you pull up the drive to the CWWC, you are greeted, or we were at least, by distant howling and can even see a bit of a peek of some animals as you walk to the check in window. The staff is beyond friendly, and even though they are busy with things, they take the time to talk with you and truly make you feel welcome. They are also extremely patient so that made us even more thankful that they took time out to talk with us.

I will say that there are plenty of rules in place here, and rightly so! The rules are there to protect those coming in for the tours, and even as important, to protect the animals that call the CWWC their home. If you follow the guidelines and respect both the staff and these beautiful creatures, I can promise you that you will have an unforgettable experience.

My wife and I were eager to experience as much as we could while we were there, so we did make a few purchases in the gift shop, and plan to purchase the photos taken for us during the meet and greet.

Words cannot express how being with these wolves in person touches a deeper part of you. We were instructed on how to interact and love on Makuee and Keyni, while respecting these majestic creatures. They are incredibly eager to be given attention, however remembering that these are still wild animals is important. It was helpful having the wolf expert there with us in the enclosure, because my wife and I wanted to be as respectful as possible, and at the same time love on these two wolves as much as possible.

Once the meet and greet was over, as well as the tour, we all stood and attempted to howl with the wolves. When we stopped and they howled in return, the feeling was so incredible. It made my wife and I both tear up because it was so beautiful being able to hear that sound in person. Even the coyotes got in on the action a little haha.

To sum this experience up, I feel as though 5 stars doesn’t do it justice. The location is gorgeous, it abides by covid guidelines, and the atmosphere and animals and staff, all make this truthfully one experience my wife and I will forever hold dear in our hearts.

Thank you to the staff for making this possible and a special thanks to Makuee and Keyni, for welcoming us into...
