Hidden gem!!!
This is such a fun museum!!! Staff is amazing!! The 2 women on staff the day of our visit were just wonderful and very helpful as my 5 kids, plus a friend's son, made their way through. We even made a mistake & the kids took a walk on the trail after the museum closed...they waited for us to lock the gates, even though it meant giving up some of their personal time-i did call them to come back right away, but 5 kids in a group is never too speedy(THANK YOU!!! &sorry again)
It is a small museum(it was once a house), but PACKED with artifacts and pieces of history!!
Admission to the museum also grants admission to several other local area parks(saddleback butte, I believe poppys, and several others....can't remember now as we were not going anywhere else)....all for $3!!! What a bargain!!
The area is very pretty(at least to someone that isn't used to the desert environment).
We had a great time and plan to return!!
I only wish they were open a bit more, Sat & Sun only with limited hours....maybe add Fridays?? And extend the hours a little bit??...

Inspired me. Im also a mason and appreciated all the stonework, but they need to hire me bc the masonry needs alot of work lol. I wish I was rich I'd fund the heck out this place. very cool. Some of exhibits are empty bc they gave back the stuff to the CA indigenous tribes but I thought that was super cool actually. maybe they fill it up with legally bought stuff in future! Loved the exhibits and I loved to see some agave growing all around. They arent native bit i farm agave. This place displays the mojave desert local flora very well. Has yucca brevifolia(joshua tree) has beavertail(Opuntia basilaris), Silver chollas (Cylindropuntia...

Next time I will take a picnic lunch or afternoon tea; to enjoy after touring the museum. There is an outdoor eating area with table and chairs. In addition to checking out the actual museum, we enjoyed taking a walk on the track that surrounds the property. The museum staff gave us a little leaflet about the surrounding area, which we could refer to as we walked around the track. The expansive views of desert landscape dotted with many beautiful buttes is breathtaking. I highly recommend a visit to this enchanting piece of history tucked away in the...
