When I was there. ..almost desolate. Absolutely stunningly clean beaches and with vivid shades of blue in the water that only northern Michigan and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore has. I put my hammock up in a small grove of cottonwood trees and took a Sunday afternoon nap with the sound of leaves fluttering in the wind and waves crashing on the shore. Yeah I was that great. Go there. You won't regret it. Leave it how you found it

A nice beach off the beaten path that requires a mile dirt road trek to get to lends this to be one of the least crowded beaches in the area. It has great views of sleeping bear dunes and the beach itself is long enough to allow plenty of room for beach games or kite flying. There is some walking over the dunes to get to the beach and as such is not accessible for those with mobility issues.

This beach is definitely a favorite, with far less people on a Saturday in July. You walk through sand and small dunes on your way to the beach. (It's not long, definitely doable, though not accessible for those who need it.) Absolutely beautiful beach. It felt more remote, which we preferred to a town beach.

I went to Peterson Beach with my daughter and dog and we were met by a girl who said she was an intern from Ann Arbor. Her name was Natalia and she said “she’s protecting the birds” and told us to leave. The website and “Bring Fido” app mentions dogs are allowed on the left of the boardwalk (which we were) and she said they are not even after showing her the info. She wasn’t disallowing swimmers or beach walkers. I have nothing against protecting birds, but the way she handled it was...

Beach is beautiful but, 2 drunk obnoxious women with a chocolate Weimaraner that don’t know how to use a leash are going to ruin someone’s experience. Too busy looking for shells to pay any attention to the dog that wandered off. Was yelling “he’s not aggressive” as the dog was barking at us an bearing it’s teeth. But, then had the nerve to blame us for it. I’m sure those women are proud of how they acted - they...
