Platte Plains Trail — Attraction in Lake Township

We didn't actually go hiking, but the trails seemed nice. I sat by the water near the boat ramp for probably about an hour, reading and enjoying the nature around me. My brother fished for just as long. We ate dinner there next to the water, and had a really great time. There was so much beauty surrounding us and we could hear birds, frogs, and fish. Years ago as a young boy we could see and hear male Nighthawks diving during their mating ritual in the semi wooded areas of the property. I hadn't heard that vibrating whooshing sound in years until I took this trail to the lake one early evening. Clearing the trees at the edge of the dunes, seeing the lake off in the distance in the fading dusk and then that magical sight and sound. Hiked the Bass Lake Loop. The trail is well groomed and peaceful. Not crowded and not to many bugs the day we were there. There is a small dock with a bench at Bass Lake where several people were trying their luck. The only reason I am not rating this trail with 5 stars is we found the trail signage to be lacking.
