This is a challenging, but rewarding hike for the accomplishment. It's an up and down both ways trail. I'm 59 in good shape and it was my first time. It was a 6 hour trek in and out. It's not what I would call a fun hike, but you definitely feel accomplished after completing it. Bring plenty of water, some food snacks, and your patience and it will be a nice hike. The view at the top is nice, but not the reason for the hike. There are some steep areas and you will need to be able to climb up and over some rocky areas....

I bit off more than I could chew. After reaching the top and hiking back I became dizzy. Tried to suck it up but was getting worse. Temp rose to 95. El cap is a no joke hike. At mile 10 the park rangers were there with their polaris' and drove me the rest of the way. I very much appreciate they being there for me and for the two ladies who they picked up after me. Glad I made it to the top but I know I would not have made it those...

The more difficult a hike is the more rewarding it is at the top. That’s what I’ve experienced here today! Amazing views! If you’re still reading make sure to bring lots of water, there are watering stations placed by the parks and recreation crew but only about half way, the trail has some shade but this only lasts for about half way as well. Steep trails with a mix of soil types. Highly recommend this hike!...
