The Solstice & sunset together made for a memorable evening with the sunset mirroring only those found in Hawaii.
We gathered with the friends & family along with 20 pizzas, to experience the sounds, smells and sights of the great outdoors. Featuring walking paths to view the city scape, covered picnic areas likely for rent, concession stand for snacks & as if the park wasn't big enough, a playground for the children. This park should be on a list of natural wonders.
For the grand finalé, the sun slowly disappeared into the backdrop (of our great lake) in a bright blazing ball of glory, lighting up the skies in colors unimaginable. We saw it & felt it, peace, love and harmony everywhere. Everyone waiting for the same thing, the most beautiful sunset; anywhere in the world. I believe on this day, we saw it.

Read moreNice to be at the Solstice Steps on the solstice. The local custom of clapping at the moment the sun sets over the lake is sweet and given extra charge by the large crowd there for solstice. The band playing -- Cloud 9 -- had a good sense of the event and setting, thankfully setting their amps at a civilized rather than make-everyone-deaf level. Good selection of food from food trucks for the event. I walk at Lakewood Park several times a week and enjoy the diversity of people and the well cared for (except in winter) walking paths and bathrooms. There's always lots of activity going on with a nice playground, volleyball, ballfields, new pool,...
