West Beach — Attraction in Lakewood

My review is of the West Beach boat launch. Launching can be from either side of the pier. Quick and easy. Nice natural area. Would not be a DUKE review without a little chop busting. Problems happen when Jack-legg boaters tie up the launch. You know the kind. The ones that need to load up the cooler from car to the boat. Why cannot you do that at home? My favorite is the two mooring lines for the 12 foot boat that need to be figured eight fifty times around the cleat. Then they drop the fenders? While the wife holds onto the Gunrail with two hands from the pier for dear life. What the HELL! From opening the gate to dropping the trailer is a 4 min top process. And for all you fishermen out there, your aluminum boat is a waste of raw material. Best for you to recycle them, and I will thank you dill weeds the next time I crack open a cold...

Just had my future daughter in law's bridal shower there. We loved it! The room can accommodate up to 55 people. They have tables that they take out and set up for you however you want. There's a fridge and sink which we utilized. We had food catered in from a local restaurant. It's very clean with beautiful scenery right on the shore of Crystal Lake. The wall facing the lake has lots of windows w/glass doors that open out onto a long deck.which has cocktail tables. The deck is for your party only when u rent the room. The updated beach house is wonderful. The playground has been redone, and while has less to do than previously, I assume there was a reason for the change. I miss the amount of bike parking there used to be at the beach.

The most difficult thing at this location can be parking. On the two way street both pulling into a spot and backing out of one can be difficult and frustrating, both for beach goers and drivers stuck in beach traffic...
