This was the most disgusting state park we have ever camped in. The bathroom did not have paper towels to dry your hands from the day we arrived til the day we left. If they’re 'going green,’ an air dryer for your hands should be available then. The counters in the women’s bathroom were definitely not wiped down daily, as the sign said it should be. I also heard another camper telling the camp host that he was standing in 2+ inches of water in the shower he took that morning. Of course I must have picked that same shower, because I had the same experience 2 days later... 2+ inches of disgusting water not draining as it should (The shower closest to the dish washing station/women’s restroom so you know which to avoid, as I’m sure it still won’t be fixed). Then, we were sitting at the fire and a skunk scurried out of the woods…fine…these things happen (though we had no food at the site). However, about an hour later, I exited the bathroom to yet another skunk within 3 feet of me. Perhaps if the main dumpster was not overflowing with trash all over the ground, you wouldn’t have such an infestation. Finally, when it rained the day we were packing up, all you smelled was the overwhelming stench of sewage in the air. It was honestly so strong that we were gagging, which is saying a lot as healthcare professionals who are used to things of that nature. We stayed here last year and this park was definitely maintained much much better. I’m not sure what has changed, but we...

This is a clean well-run state park and campground. Sites are taken care of and many are spaced apart for privacy. Many sites are level and all have a fire ring or some sort. Bath house is clean and kept stocked with TP. There are outhouses for campsites that are more remotely located. Near the bath house is a kiosk where information about the campground and surrounding preserves for hiking and boating can be found. There is also a shed where firewood can be purchased when available (the main gate also has firewood for sale). The proximity to Acadia is good - you can be there in less than 30 minutes so day tripping is easy. In addition, Lamoine Beach (swimming and sand) is a few minutes away by car. The campground is right on the ocean (Frenchman's Bay) and a select group of campsites are across the road with water views. The land adjacent to the bay is a public picnic area with a large grassy meadow and picnic tables. We stayed for four nights in mid-June. There are two things to be aware of: 1) if you stay, like we did, in a campsite near the bath house (not the site in the photo), the flush toilets are quite loud ; and 2) the campground is, unfortunately, directly in the flight path of the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport. Given the number of celebrities and upper echelon income residents who own homes in the area, the air traffic is considerable with both private and public...

Been camping, fishing, and picnicking at lamoine state park for 15 years. Unfortunately, ever since new Managment came in it has been very rediculous (in a bad way). They have been acting very powertrip type people. The are enforcing very silly, and petty rules. 3 different times for us as a family alone. Each and every one of the situations, I could not find any actual laws in effect for what they were trying to enforce. Just finding the grey areas in which it is hard to really say much to them, but very silly. One instants on the forth of July, we was trying to get in for a picnic. They said that they were full for day use. We had been there so many times with more people then what was there. We had our whole family planning to cook lobsters and fish. There was only no room for vehicles. We could have parked up top and walked down. I could not find an actual law stating an occupancy rating. Neither did the worker know if there was a occupancy rating or not. Just decided that in her opinion it was to full. But the park had been at that rating many times before when previous Managment was there, with no issues for safety. It is one thing to follow laws, rules, and regulations but another to just have a power trip because someone has never had any authority over anything else before. I have 2 other situations, but this write up is long...

Extremely beautiful state park situated on an overgrown apple orchard, Ash forest and estate on the water. Camp sites are generously spaced, clean and there are sites in a more open field and sites in a forested area; no water, septic, or electric hookups and generators are not allowed on until 8am, a diversion from other Maine campground rules. Also, be aware, some sites don't have gravel packing and are extremely muddy. The bathrooms are ok, kinda older state-like- quality and just clean enough but not clean enough for me to want to sit on someone's dried poop on the rim of the seat .. oh well, good enough for government workers ... the sinks can only run water for seconds at a time, I don't dare try the shower .. There is a beautiful 1 mile walking trail, my dogs each had several ticks after the walk but that's most of Maine. There is a really sweet interpretation center. Camp fire is $6 and it's open for people to take a leave money in a can. The campground is very clean. There is a playground and treehouse which is really cool. I would certainly return despite it's imperfections; the natural beauty of the forest, the birds, ... All make this a beautiful place to stay. There is a beach. I think kids would really enjoy this campground if they like to ride bikes.

I’ve done camping four times before across different states, and honestly, I had almost given up on it—especially after some bad experiences. After visiting Acadia National Park, I was planning to book a motel because I felt camping wasn’t worth it anymore. But Lamoine State Park completely changed my mind! This was hands down the best camping experience I’ve had. The campground is peaceful, clean, and very well-maintained. There are restrooms and showers located conveniently throughout the site—and they’re spotless! The entire area is beautiful and calming, and to top it off, it was only $32 per night, which is such a great deal. One of the highlights was the staff—they were super polite, helpful, and welcoming. You can really tell they care about keeping the place in great shape and making sure visitors feel comfortable. We had a lot of fun and genuinely enjoyed every moment. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a quiet, clean, and well-run campground. I’ll definitely be coming back!
