Topsey Exotic Ranch & Park — Attraction in Lampasas

I do have to say, the animals have gotten far much more aggressive over the years. I have visited here at least 6 times in the past and we will not be returning. We used to ride through in the back of my mom's Tahoe with the trunk open, and I wouldn't let somebody pay me to have my daughter do that now. The zebras CHASED us down from the entrance literally blocking the front of my car, as well as ramming into the back, and biting my mirrors. The ostrich also chased us down from the beginning and was pecking my sunroof and windows. Allll at the same time. I would say about 50% of the animals are waiting at the entrance for you to come in and they really don't want you to go through. We used an entire bag of food trying to get them to back off within the first 3 minutes of entering. And the other 50% of animals you see the rest of the 15 minute drive (because it looks like rain washed out a large portion of what we used to be able to drive through) will be deer and goats. We saw 2 llamas, and that's it from the first 3 minutes to the end. Also when we went to pet the goats they rammed into my legs multiple times, leaving bruises, and gathered around my 2 year old daughter (which they never did when she was younger) and my fiancé had to take her out. The monkeys had to be the best part. It was all much more nerve wracking for us being worried about our daughters safety than it was enjoyable. What used to be a $25 trip (+ our 1hr 15min drive there and back) was $40+. And they used to give out brochures to identify all the animals, but they don't do that any more. They are now just information packets, no pictures. And in the little shop, many of the stuffed animals they have for sale are not even there?... They had kangaroos but no zebra? I do want to reiterate I have been here many times before and loved my experience or I would not have continued. That being said, maybe the animals were having a bad day, maybe something was in the air. But I was told this could be useful to other people looking for...

Fun little drive-thru safari! We've been to several of these types of places around Texas, like Fossil Rim and Natural Bridge. And while it's not near as big or fancy as those places, it's still lots of fun and kept both the kids and the adults entertained. Even though it's only 3 miles, it took an hour to drive through it, because the animals were SO INTERACTIVE! We were constantly surrounded by deer and goats, so much so that they would block the car so they could get more food (pretty smart animals!). The zebras were some of the sweetest I've ever encountered, as zebras tend to be like donkeys and can be pretty nippy. These however were very sweet and would gently eat out of your hands and let you pet them. The best part was the camel. He was EXTREMELY friendly and stuck his head in every window of the car searching for food and pinned me against my seat while reaching across to the other side..LOL! He ended up taking one whole bag, but it was worth it for all the laughs we had. The food was only $1 a bag and the entrance fees were very reasonable, considering places like Fossil Rim charge $25-$30 a person and this was half the price. Will...
