These folks earned 5 stars but there is ONE bit of constructive feedback to give. But let’s start with the great- Tickets and concessions were affordable- but I messed up and threw my popcorn container away before I learned you get FREE refills all night if you save the container. Even then- everything is so reasonably priced it didn’t hurt my bank to buy another and indulge in the free refills. I took my wheelchair bound mama to a show- I first went alone and alerted staff we needed wheelchair access and they scanned my tickets and gave me instructions. I parked on the north side of the building- right next to the tour bus 😍 and wheeled her down the sidewalk. The staff flagged us down at the ramp because I almost passed it- our seats in the ground floor were completely accessible and an usher helped us to our front row seats and removed the chair for mom to stay in her chair versus transferring her. Amazing staff- I can’t say that enough.
The bathrooms and auditorium were clean 🧼
I double booked tickets and had to call for a refund- had NO issues and the gentleman I talked to was very respectful and sent a refund with no qualms (THANK YOU SIR)
Now for the ONE bit on constructive feedback I have for the event-
As the event’s Emcee mentioned, the fog would not & did NOT cause my mom(who has asthma & COPD) any breathing issues and it wasn’t an issue visually during the show. It was a super cool addition to the show.
However- my mom also has macular degeneration and when the spotlights would shine on the audience, my mom was blinded with them- like painful blindness. The performer at one point noticed us covering her face and asked for them to cut off them lights.
So- my feedback is- when handicap seating is right up front, please consider raising those lights just a couple notches- I realize the staff probably didn’t know that this may be an issue for folks with disabilities so that’s why I’m saying it here but still giving 5 stars! Y’all earned them 5 stars-in so many ways!
Overall- I’ll be back time and time again- SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS. But whether I bring my mama for another front row show is up for debate- only because of the lighting situation.
Thanks for an amazing Mother’s Day show- and shout out to mom blakeman’s who sponsored the event- can’t wait to attend more shows at The Grand and spend money with a local venue that’s doing...
Read moreThe show was great but that's all based on the performers. The staff was very friendly and the theatre is quaint although the 2 lower level box seating positioned directly on the sides of the stage was ill-planned. Although I come a family with a strong military background and pride myself on being very patriotic, having a color guard bring the American flag down the aisle to front stage and have everyone stand and say the Pledge of Allegiance was inappropriate for a theatre. I've been to many shows over the years and this never happened. Also, I was embarrassed by the lack of professionalism on behalf of the management. No one introduced the opening act and it became very awkward when the manager yelled out from the back of the theatre "maybe if we all clapped loud enough, they'll come out." Seriously? This theatre needs someone with a theatrical background as their director in order for this...
Read moreI had the wonderful opportunity to visit this theatre for the first time on Saturday, January 24 to see the ABBAMANIA show and I will say I was very pleasantly surprised. Not only was the theatre itself nice, but the volunteers and the director went out of their way to be very hospitable. The other thing I liked about this theatre were the free refreshments. I think Lancaster is very lucky to have such a nice theatre and I hope the community will continue to support this theatre in the future.
I would give this theatre more stars...
