First and foremost, they actually have handicap parking near the dog park otherwise you have to walk quite a distance. But fortunately I only had to walk a small distance to find out that it is a members only dog park with a electronic tag on the gate. I should have known when I pulled in to the park and noticed that there is normally a parking fee to get into the park, and then when you get to the dog park there is a nice little sign that tells you where you can go get the dog park membership at? Which doesn't do you much good if you're already at the gate, maybe it would have been too hard for them to just have a little electronic card reader, kind of like at the car washes, where you could just slide your credit card and go on in? It does look like a nice dog park but it's real hard to tell from outside the gate. I also should have realized that when three or four people went by me without offering to let me into the park or even saying hi, especially the one wearing the T-shirt that was tie-dyed hearts? So anyway, if you go by a pass before you get here, you can save yourself a drive. But young lady and I are just going to move on...
Read moreThis park is great. Trails, water access, lots of room to run and play, and much of it is shaded in trees to avoid hot afternoon sun. There is also a water fountain with bowls for the dogs to drink, which is closed during the colder months. It’s big enough to take your dog on an off leash hike, with trails the run through a few marshy areas on the north side of the park. We drive all the way from Grand Ledge to visit.
The culture there is good too. We see a handful of regulars, but also meet new friends with almost every visit. So far the vast majority of people and dogs we’ve met at the park are well behaved and do great in off-leash environments. Even if there is a dog who has more energy than another dog is comfortable with, there’s enough room within the gates to have separate play areas. In my experience, after dozens of visits, only a handful of dogs have ‘triggered’ other dogs. In each instance, the owners were quick to act. They aren’t even worth mentioning because our visits to the park has been overwhelmingly positive.

Read moreI think it's a great place to spend the day whether you're by yourself, or with your family. Just to be able to get outside and enjoy a spring, or summer day. There is the huge playground for kids of all ages to play on and enjoy. There is the walking trails and paths that go all the way around the lake that you can enjoy walking or riding bikes also there are The pavilions that you can use or reserve to have family get together barbecues or celebrate a birthday party or whatever you're looking to do. During the summer they have to open beach in the splash pad. During winter months they have the sledding and toboggan hills! And they also have the dog park that you can pay for membership! My only complaint I believe they need to have more restrooms than what's available for the public to use you have to walk so far depending on where you are at to be able to use a bathroom especially if you're down at one of The pavilions or the children's playground it's quite a walk to get to a restroom to use other than that I believe it's a great place to hang out and take your...
