I had an incredible adventure with Puerto Rico Interior Tours!
Booking was a breeze, thanks to Adam who hooked me up through Facebook Messenger. Shoutout to him for being super patient while I figured out my last-minute plans. Plus, he even sent over a helpful packing list to get me prepped for the trip.
On the day of the adventure, I met up with my guides, Gabriel and Pablo. They were fantastic! Not only were they knowledgeable and funny, but they also made sure we had an unforgettable experience. Pablo's instructions were clear and easy to follow, giving me the confidence to rappel into the cave and Gabriel's photography skills meant I didn't have to worry about capturing the moment.
We opted for the 7-cave exploration with rappelling, and it was absolutely thrilling. From discovering petroglyphs to rappelling into caves with rich history, every moment was filled with excitement. Pablo even took a moment to lead us in reflection in the darkness of the cave, which added a meaningful touch to the experience.
Now, for some packing tips: Be sure to wear sturdy hiking boots or closed-toe shoes, as well as long socks to protect against thorny vines. You have the option to attach a GoPro to your helmet to capture the adventure. You need a headlamp so bring one from home or stop by Walmart and pick one up for $5. I drank a lot of water before the trip and only brought one water bottle during the 4 hour trip to stay light.
Overall, this excursion was truly unforgettable. It offered a perfect blend of adventure and history. Huge thanks to Adam, Gabriel, and Pablo for making it all possible. If you're looking for an adventure-packed experience in Puerto...
Read moreIf you're currently researching your trip or on the fence about booking a tour with Puerto Rico Interior Tours...DO IT! I could not recommend it more highly. Gabriel was gracious enough to allow my brother and me to book a last minute tour and we could not have anticipated how this would become an absolute highlight of our trip and one of our most memorable days together. We booked the full package...7 caves with repelling included...and encourage you to do the same! We hiked through his beautiful (almost) rain forest, explored unique caves, saw ancient carvings in stone, and repelled down into a cave where we took a jump into a pool of water. Great stories to go home and tell! :) Gabriel is as kind, patient and genuine a person as they come and was so knowledgable, sharing fascinating information all along the way while also keeping us laughing! He busted out and covered us in Off as needed so not a bug bite was to be found afterwards...and he was thorough in documenting our trek in pictures and videos so we could just enjoy the experience. And that we did!
If you book this tour, take snacks/water and go prepared for a good amount of hiking and to get wet (including shoes...we wore water shoes but some might prefer boots...just know they will get soaked), and most of all to have an adventure you will remember forever!
As a side note, Gabriel owns and operates a lovely pink hotel in Lares, Hotel Libertad, that he has spent 5 years renovating himself. We visited it afterwards and would have loved to have stayed had we had more time. Check it...
Read moreI went on this excursion with little to no expectations. My husband asked if I was OK with the hikes, caves and jump-I said yes and we had a grand time. The lower half of my body took a good week to recover from the rashes, scraps, etc.SO WEAR pants and sleeves. If you're hefty in the waist it may not be the best adventure due to the tight spaces when entering/exiting the caves but Gabriel, Jimmy or the younger 3rd guy may have an alternate route for you.
Gabriel was our guide. He was polite, very personable and has a beautiful family. Contact him to stay at his Airbnb in 2026 (currently under construction) or to stay at his hotel which is currently available. I would say this was of 5/10 on intensity compared to el yunque's paved trail- being a 7/10. However I may not be the best judge of intensity if our guide thought I was 28, when I'm not in my 20s or 30s. NOTE: There is absolutely no trail. 75% of the entire trip is through jungle/woods/rainforest. Wear sneakers or very supportive water shoes if you plan to jump into water. We went in November and luckily it hadn't rained 3 or 4 days prior-Idk what that would have been like-im guessing not good. Weather was very temperate and comfortable. If I went back to PR with others I would tell them to make this trip Gabriel & Jimmy. We only saw 7 caves but there's...
