I've been coming here for years and recently I just started running here by myself and regardless whether you're walking this trail with your dog or with your family to pass the time or running alone, this place is beautiful and it feels safe for what it is which is a pretty densely packed forest area. You can see lots of small wildlife here as well as the occasional alligator, so that is to say do not go near the water and do not go in the water. Lol.
Super dog friendly with an ok dog park.. but the main attraction is for sure the trails here. It does have a playground, bathrooms, several parking lots, and pavilions with tables for birthdays. I'd say this is really wheelchair friendly. The trails are smooth, and you can opt not to go on the wooden bridges without ruining the experience, although most of them are at an easy incline and are accessible. No fences around the water though so beware if you have small children, dogs, or are prone to fall over in which case just keep to the pavement areas as there are a few steep inclines off the paths.
Ive seen people are prone to off leash dog walks/training (or those extendable leashes) so be aware that this place is known for that and if you have a reactive dog to know that you might need to be vocal about passing someone whos hogging the path with several dogs or that you may need to take hold of your pup quickly. They have also started holding races here for runners, so be aware that this place can get congested randomly and to take that into account if you plan to hold birthdays or celebrations here on weekends... they typically keep it to the southern loop though so maybe plan everything closer to the playground in...
Read moreThis is a nice park with 2 fenced-in dog areas for large dogs and another for smaller dogs. So, we came to this park with our 10-month 65-pound mix. One of the large dog areas had 2 German Shepard's that seemed aggressive, so we went in the other area, at first there where no other dogs. I nice couple with an older white dog came in and our dog and theirs played and were having a great time. Then a guy with 2 aggressive dogs came in and both came right after our dog and basically tried to attack him! I had to stand in between them as my wife hollered at the owner to get his dogs, he delayed doing this as we barely made it out without myself or our dog getting bitten! This was our 2nd and last time we will use a public dog park. It’s too bad that some people ruin it for the rest of us. We will never do this again, a horrible experience that could have...
Read moreLet me start off by saying I visit a quite a few of these public parks. My favorite being Walsingham Park mainly because it's close to home but it still is one of the better parks. Today I had the pleasure of visiting Eagle Lake Park and I'm telling I really enjoyed this park. First off the bathrooms were clean and I mean clean. They smelled good and urinals actually still had the urinal cakes in them. Ok so now the park is beautiful plenty of seating areas and open grassy field to play in or simply read a book. Several fishing piers for your use around the water in different locations of the lake. Only had the time for some of the park because I found they had many different paths to explore. I'll be returning to this park for sure and I'll be bringing the kids. The paths a nice and smooth great for rollerblades or scooters just...
