Aside from the gallery exhibits and artifacts to enjoy, the museum has so much things to offer both for the young and old. From ranching and farming history, to seeing cows getting milked, to watching sheep dogs being trained, to hands-on exhibits that kids love, Western artists, life in the old days — it is a great place to unwind!
When I visited the museum, it happened that there was an ongoing event — the 2015 Cowboy Day! So, with just a $5 entrance fee, I was in for a nice treat.
There is the historic Green Bridge. It is considered the oldest and longest Pratt through-truss bridge in New Mexico. Spanning 133 feet and 16 feet wide, it is also the second-oldest surviving highway bridge in the state, and the state’s oldest steel highway bridge.

Read moreWow, what an unexpected gem of a museum! The exhibits are extremely well done, informative, beautifully maintained and really interesting. A few these stand out in particular: the history of ranchers who lost their land to the military, the history of Billy the Kid, and the various farm vehicles. Getting to see and learn about farm animals was also great.
My eight year old got a little bored in the museum because I took too long reading the information panels, but he perked up when we went outside and saw all the farm animals.
I really have no idea what funding this museum relies on because it doesn't seem like it should be able to stay open. The facilities are big, modern and well kept. The exhibits are excellent and on par or better than many much bigger museums I've visited. Yet the price is only five dollars for adults, three for kids.
I highly recommend visiting and spending a couple...
Read moreThe New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces is a fabulous venue and an amazing resource of historical knowledge and artifacts. I attended the Las Cruces Association of REALTORS - Southern New Mexico MLS 2025 officers installation banquet at the museum event room. This was a great place for us Realtors to honor our outbound officers and meet the incoming officers. The event also featured a variety of awards for some outstanding professionals. Realtor of the year, and affiliate member of the year to name a few. Back to the facility! The event room is actually quite large enough for a large gathering, and has a raised stage as well. Very beautiful as well. I would definitely recommend this venue for any medium to...
