This is, without a doubt, one of the coolest museums in the entire world. I am must say that I am not a huge racing enthusiast but I happened to be with a few people who wanted to stop at this museum. I am so glad we did! Youâre immediately overwhelmed by the incredible collection of cars and memorabilia. You name it. Everyone and anyone in racing is in there. Mario Andretti even bought a brick on the wall. To see some of the early cars some of the greats like Mario drove is incredible.Even more incredible is that we happened to get a tour guide who is a legend⌠Lynn Paxton. Lynn is a curator of the museum and such an interesting, kind man. The stories were captivating. He knew about everything. As a race car driver, Lynn said he never did anything he didnât love. He said he knew a lot of people who had jobs that made a lot of money but are miserable. His wisdom and insight to life outside of racing was appreciated. The museum has a cool gift shop with all kinds of fun knickknacks (beyond t-shirts, posters, books, stickers, keychains, seat cushions, etc. etc.. The entrance fee is free but donations are welcome. How can you go to a gorgeous museum like this and not want to donate to the history displayed? The funny thing is not but a few miles from there we were talking to a man who had lived there for his entire life. He said he always wanted to go to that museum but hadnât. We talked about how Lynn Paxton, a former racer, is the curator and gave us a tour. The man said, âWow, Lynn is a legend!â I cannot wait to return. In fact, I am planning to take my father there on December 6. I will return again and again.

If you have any interest in cars, youâll want to visit this place. Thereâs so much to see and you wonât know where to start. Luckily, there are extremely knowledgeable and kind volunteers who are excited to show you around. If youâre lucky enough to meet Lynn, who is the retiring curator and a former racer himself, youâre in for a real treat. We were incredibly appreciative of him for being willing to give us a private tour and for sharing his wealth of knowledge. He really knows his stuff, but what stood out the most was his passion. It made for a very memorable experience. If you go, make sure to stop by the gift shop and pick up a few knick knacks or get a membership. This museum is unique and deserves the funding to stick around for generations to come. Weâll definitely be back and have already started recommending our family and friends to visit.

I took too many photos! Place is amazing with the amount of history in that building. The whole staff was very nice. I started with a tour guide, but also had kids that weren't into it as much as I was. So I'd like to go back and stay with the guide and hear what he has to say. This guy knew everything about ever exhibit. We were in there maybe an hour and that's not enough time to read up on each display. If it's close to you come back a couple times. It's worth it to get as much in as you can. I went in there as not a huge racing fan, but I quickly wanted to learn more and more about everything in there.

This place is a gem. Donations only for admission, the facility was constructed entirely with donated funds and is run by knowledgeable volunteers who welcome the opportunity to share their knowledge. The museum has a comprehensive collection of dirt track and drag racing classics, along with some truly classic Indian motorcycles. You have to see it to believe it. This place is the best source of technical information on the chassis and motors for the sport. Great fun and education five miles south of Dillsburg, PA.

This racing museums is dedicated to local racing. The museum features many 'midget' class races car from different eras providing an overview of the sport from its inception to the present day. Many of the car come from local racers who competed nearby. Currently being featured is a car Mario Andretti raced during his early career. The museum also features a large library for research into the history of the sport. Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the cars and their history.

Even if it wasn't free for visitors, I would highly recommend this place for the gear head or race fan in your family. We got lucky when we happened to visit on a day when they were actually racing vintage cars on the old fairgrounds race track - awesome! Even if you're not a "car person", this is a museum through and through, so there's plenty of history - local and otherwise - to take in. If you *are* a car person, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
