Ontelaunee Lake — Attraction in Laureldale

A great place to stop and fish, with good shore access (a no - brainer as no boats are allowed). Great catfish spot, with good diversity in fellow fisherman as well as fish. My only complaint has nothing to do with the location and more to do with some of the people who use this gem. Bring. A. TRASH BAG. So many 'fishermen' fail to clean up after themselves and sully this excellent resource with copious pieces of refuse. I try to do my part as do a select few others to try to keep this lovely lake clean. The only defense for the state of the shores is that it didn't seem like the township or whoever was emptying the provided trash receptacles quickly enough during the summer, so some of the detritus may have simply blown out of the overly full cans. Great trails and wilderness. Do not be fooled by the size of the lake. The back areas extend for miles and are great to explore during spring/summer/fall.
