Rock Chalk Park — Attraction in Lawrence

FREE for all DOUGLAS COUNTY KS residents w proof of residence! Wish there was a pool or water sports option. Great space for kids athletic or intermurals for all ages- For a free gym it's decent. It's geared more towards seniors with a dozen treadmills stair-climbers and bike machines plus a very small area with a couple weight machines- Cafe exists but I have NEVER ONCE in two years seen it open and their vending machines are always locked up in there so bYob- they do have a set of free lockers for items- the options for sports here are baseball and soccer - indoor terf fields with goals and barriers volleyball, basketball, pickleball are all indoor but there is an extensive set of tennis courts available...

Came for a High School track meet. Great location but although the park has a ton of land - there isn't enough parking to accommodate the many families coming to support their children. There was an area for over flow parking, but it was in pure mud. Vehicles were getting stuck in the mud, big trucks included.

Overall, it was nice - parking...

The facilities at Rock chalk Park were great. Everything was clean and nicely maintained. At most sports venues the food is just okay, but the hamburger was surprisingly really good. We came to watch KU football spring showcase and it was a good interm for memorial...
