Hands down the best pumpkin patch around!! This family has clearly put in a lot of time and effort to make their land enjoyable and fun for any and all.
They have a ton of varieties of pumpkins from little bitty all the way up to gigantic. Your classic orange, white, the dark almost black, and my personal favorite the warty ones!
They offer wheelbarrows to take out into the fields so you don't have to carry all of your treasures. And you could easily spend an hour in the fields just looking through all of the pumpkins. I know I have when I have been on the hunt for the perfect one.
They have a nice little play area for the kids. There is a maze. You can check out their cows, ducks, chickens, and some other exotic birds. Really, lots of wonderful photo opportunities.
They often have a small concession stand open as well. You can get cider and kettle corn! They also have a barn in which you go and pay for your pumpkins ( by the pound ) and inside of that area they have lots of other cool things to check out. Such as small pumpkins and other squash for purchase and pie pumpkins.
These folks are incredibly kind and helpful, and we always go back to see...
Read moreOur family has been going to Schaake Pumpkin Patch for over 10 years and have always had a great experience until this last trip to Schaake's. One of the owner's son's thought my son threw a rock over the top of the hay wagon full of people. Instead of coming over to the parents and discussing the incident elected to charge over to my son and started yelling at him with a very anger tone of voice and threating to kick him off the premises. My son was 9 years old at the time. Both my wife and I thought at first it was a joke until our son started crying while hundreds of people looked on. After the incident was over we asked my son if he threw a rock in that direction and he said no it was a little girl next to him. After a few weeks went by I sent an e-mail to the owners explaining the incident and wished their son would of came to us the parents instead of making a scene with my son with hundreds of people close by watching. The owners basically said it was out of their control and really could not do anything. I believe there was serious anger issues with the individual yelling at my 9...
Read moreI've been going to Schaake's since 1991, when they were a very small operation with one or two tractors taking visitors out to the fields. Since I started my own family 14 years ago we've hardly missed a year. It's a real, honest-to-goodness pumpkin patch, not a rural home that's tossed a bunch of pumpkins around for folks to buy. Take gloves and a pocket knife because there's a good chance you'll be cutting your selection right off the vine! There's no entrance fee, which some places charge, so even if you can't find the perfect pumpkin you're only out time and gas money. However, if you cannot find a pumpkin here then you will NEVER find one anywhere. The place is enormous and the variety of pumpkins, gourds, and squashes is amazing. You'll find everything from fist-sized pumpkins to enormous Hubbard squash to giant pumpkins that require two people to lift. I've never had a bad...
