Lake Jed Johnson Tower — Attraction in Lawton

This was my first time out to the tower and it was worth it! There is a small area to park with a few different trails to get to the tower or surrounding hills. The shortest trail is a about .35 miles from parking lot to the tower, around the lake. The trails are rocky, but overall not bad. The view is great and the tower itself is worth seeing at least once. You can’t get inside the tower or climb to the top. Overall, this is worth seeing if you are in the Wichita Mountains...

Neat tower at the end if a very simple walking path. The tower itself is bolted shut with giant metal door but there is still clearly a staircase inside. While there I saw a large venomous centipede, a tarantula and a large deer of some sort. The lake had 3 kayakers on it so it must be nice and calm most of the time. Also known as the ghost tower. It comes if you search for haunted places in Oklahoma but haven't seen a ghost yet. It's a beautiful hike in the daytime, but the wildlife refugees closes in the hours of darkness. There are so many posts talk about this being a 24 hour attraction, and it's just not.
