Terry Peak was a like an overcrowded crack house on Friday, March 12th. My 13 year-old daughter and I come out every year to hit the slopes on her day off from school as a daddy-daughter ski trip. We drove 3.5 hours to arrive at 9:00 a.m. and I have never seen it that crowded. We were unable to park in the main lot and immediately jumped into a line. We were in that line for the next two-and-a-half hours, waiting for lift tickets and then ski rentals. The only guidance and customer service we received was from an employee who would periodically come out of the building and shout that they might run out of equipment and that we were going to be there for awhile. Otherwise, there was no direction, no customer care, and no one appeared to be concerned that we were actual people who were spending out hard-earned money to buy their services. We didn't actually touch the snow with skis for two and a half hours. The snow was pretty lousy, which, of course, isn't the resort's fault. The lift operators were disengaged at best, and rude at worst. I never found one employee the entire day who appeared to be in charge or remotely responsible. I was told that things were like that the day before as well and were all weekend. I have checked the Terry Peak website and Facebook pages and would strongly encourage them to give paying customers some kind of heads up for the horrible customer service experience they are in for when they come to ski Terry Peak. I would have appreciated some kind of warning of what I was getting into. I...
Read moreThis was a second year of going to Terry Peak with a group of friends. We always enjoy our time here and will plan to return next year.
However, this year was extremely frustrating when buying lift tickets, equipment rentals, and lessons. We called earlier in the year to inquire about purchasing ski school in advance and were told we couldn't, but come to find out, you could have reserved a spot for snow puppies. We got to the mountain at 7:30, stood in line for over 2 hours to find out snow puppies was full and filled up "awhile ago." No sign is posted suggesting this. Fortunately we came the next day at 7:00 and were able to get our daughter and her friend signed up. I ended up having one of our children wait in the general line and one in the equipment line in order to speed up the process.
We also called towards the end of the day prior and were told you cannot buy lift tickets and equipment rentals until the day of, which is not entirely true. You can purchase tickets for the following day after 2:45, but cannot get rentals until the day of. We still would have had to wait in line, so wouldn't have been overly helpful.
Aside from the frustrating start, the kids loved it. Terry Peak, I would suggest moving towards online options in buying tickets, rentals, and lessons. It would also be nice if you could start completing paper work while in line in order to...
Read moreWalked/skied past tons of workers down to the Surprise lift just to see that it wasn’t even close to opening. Waited for 30 minutes and a snowmobile finally showed up and told us that Kussy was open and Surprise wouldn’t be open for another 30 minutes. If the lift wasn’t open, you’d think they would put up a stop or closed sign. When a ski resort gets snow, you would expect everything to run normally the next day and not have any lag. Well, Terry Peak is a rookie resort that apparently has a tough time opporating when it snows. What a joke. On a side note, it’s ski patrol is a bunch of bozos that even an intermediate skier could crush. Sad. No joke I once saw a ski patroller doing the “pizza” down a run. Also, a lot of the lift operators are strict, rude and lazy. This is the honest truth. Sorry if it seemed pretty negative but it’s the truth.
!UPDATE!
Still the worst resort in the world as of 1/2/23 confirmed by me. Saw another ski patroller doing the “pizza”. Apparently, they still have to learn the fundamentals of skiing. Great, when someone gets really hurt, don’t worry! Ski patroller Fredrickson who has been skiing for 3 weeks straight is on the way to save you and show you how to get down the hill as safely and also as slowly as possible while giving you tips on how to do the...
