Absolutely Delighted with my day At Echo Valley Ski Area! Especially since I have not put on a pair of skis in 20 years. there was not better place for me to get my feet wet. I'm so thankful I went as it's always a bit scary when it's been a long time. If it's been a minute for you, I highly recommend lessons, as I did today with Bruce at Echo Valley, he was so amazing & lovely & his form & instructions are top notch! the rest is up to you, as soon as my fear slipped away, it was just so fun! and learned a lot on where I need to improve. Bruce is a rock star, as I'm sure they all are. It was fun to watch him from afar too after my lesson, while having a break, smooth & pro form BruceMan! super easy to sign up for lessons on the website, and I got lucky to get my lesson in, as it looks like they can fill up. It really helps too, to get that upper body in shape for rope tows & Poma lift, use that core to take you up. For me, I need to get in better shape for the slopes & a reminder to do as much as you can before you go, to be in your best shape! Okay, so the hotdoggers are 4 years old & up, incredible lil tots skiing like they own the mountain, so awesome! Towards the end of the day, when I realized I was losing strength, it was time to call it a day, best to not push yourself as I said to myself. And turned in my most awesome rental equipment to Agnes & Wayne, they are amazing & set me up with the greatest gear, which is the most important thing, they are wonderful! people & so caring. I got some wonderful recommendations. And please bring gloves that grip with that inner palm sole with friction fabric, my cheap gloves didn't fair too well on the tows, so they have suede glove covers you can rent too! which I ended up doing. I do want to buy some new equipment so I can get on the slopes lots more. At the same time, I am so thankful I didn't have equipment this time, because I got to work with Agnes & Wayne at the rental shop. So sweet! And Terri & Her Hubby, Man, Worker, Partner? not sure..Anyway they work so hard to make the lounge cozy & full of Homemade Yummies & delicious everything! with veggie burger to boot! Honestly, I can't believe I finally went skiing today, & my fear has stopped me for years & my pocket book! There is no place in Washington where you can have fun day skiing at Echo Valley prices, only at Echo Valley! I'm so thankful for the lesson, hospitality through & through, and to be on such a user friendly mountain for first time back. It is well groomed, wide open spaces, great to go by yourself, because you are never out of sight, in case you need someone. OH! They have tubing, in case you're interested. The kids are the greatest inspiration, I think the 4 year old, probably did about 50 runs, I'm not kidding. Thank You Echo Valley! See...
Read moreNice small backyard ski area to learn skiing. We are a family of non skiers who wanted to give this sport a try this year. We chose echo valley due to its small size and affordability. Very reasonable ($35 for gear rental) and slopes are very accessible. Classes are also usually available and reasonably priced with great instructors who provide individual attention. Ok so what does not work.... On a good snow day this place can get very crowded. The rental wait time could be more than an hour and you may still not get the gear. It happened to us once and the kids were super disappointed. The classes can get filled fast and you may not get any instructors. They don't have any online gear or class bookings and you have to fetch up there to see how crowded it is. If you are the organized type of person then this is not the place for you as the experience can be very unpredictable and at the extremes. I will take Mission Ridge as that place costs a lot more but you can prebook everything online and be assured of...
Read moreFirst time coming here! Not the best experience, not the worst. I wish the employees were more cheerful about explaining the slopes, what is offered, bathrooms, food. All that stuff. When we bought our tubing tickets, knowing in just buying tubing and you see me have a 3 year old.. you should tell us that there is ONE lane she can use… she can’t sit in the tube with an adult going down any other hill. We did not think we were paying $35 to enjoy the baby hill. We honestly came up thinking we were going to rent gear and hang out for the day but after buying our tubing tickets, walking in and knowing zero info because nobody was willing to explain. We decided against it. I read this was a “backyard” tubing/skiing area and...
