The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, located in the heart of Washington State, is a stunning natural treasure that offers visitors a wide range of outdoor activities and breathtaking scenery. Natural Areas to Explore: The Tieton River area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with numerous hiking trails, camping sites, and recreational opportunities. One of the most popular hikes in the area is the Tieton River Nature Trail, which winds along the river and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forests. The trail is relatively easy, making it accessible to hikers of all skill levels.

For more experienced hikers, the Naches Peak Loop Trail is a must-do hike. This trail offers incredible views of Mt. Rainier, wildflowers, and stunning alpine lakes. The trail is relatively challenging but is well worth the effort.

Camping is another popular activity in the Tieton River area, with several campgrounds located near the river. The most popular campground is the Tieton Campground, which offers 63 campsites and is open from late May through early October. The campground is equipped with picnic tables, fire pits, and potable water.

Other natural areas to explore in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest include the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, which offers spectacular alpine scenery and challenging hiking trails. The forest is also home to numerous wildlife species, including elk, deer, black bears, and cougars.

Okanagan-Wenatchee National Forest is a spectacular place for an easy car camp. We went on the weekend of June 19, 2022 and this is where we ended up on Sunday night after spending a good part of the day traversing the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route, Section 2 for the best part of the day. We rolled into a USFS Campground at around 10pm. Usually we disperse camp, but that late.at night, we just weren't going to find a spot and thankfully, the campground we found had a very nice spot available that was relatively well isolated. It was a great campground next to a beautiful clearwater river that babbled throughout the night adding to the relaxed atmosphere after a long day in the van of our 4x4. We slept in our rooftop tent soundly and reatfully and woke up the next morning to one of the nicest campgrounds we stayed at for a long while. It was incredibly clean, well maintained, old style USFS pit toilets that actually smelled quite nice. We walked around and noticed that all of the sites were well kept and that the whole place was generally tidy and pleasant. I think the CG was called Teanaway Junction, though without looking it up, I can't be sure. Unfortunately, my friend and I both contracted COVID and symptoms began to show on Monday morning so our trip was cut short and misery soon set in... Would I recommend a visit to Okanagan-Wenatchee National Forest? You bet! My partner and I are looking to return soon and explore around for a long weekend, this time on our travel dual sport...

If you’re looking for a massive and diverse outdoor adventure, Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is a must-visit. Spanning over 4 million acres, this place has everything from snow-capped peaks to dense evergreen forests and crystal-clear rivers. Whether you’re into hiking, camping, fishing, or just driving through for some awe inspiring views, there’s something for everyone. The scenic byways alone make for an unforgettable road trip, with spots to pull over and take in the sights.

The Enchantments area is one of the biggest draws for hikers, offering incredible alpine scenery that feels like something out of a fantasy novel. Plan well in advance if you want to explore and make sure you read up on the regulations. For a more laid-back experience, there are plenty of accessible lakes and rivers for fishing or just chilling.

Wildlife is everywhere! expect to see deer, elk, bald eagles, and maybe even a bear or two if you’re lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you feel about that :) ). The forest is also stunning in every season, with fall colors, winter snowshoeing, spring wildflowers, and summer sunshine.

Whether you’re here for a day or a week, Okanogan-Wenatchee is a slice of beauty that outdoor lovers will...

Absolutely beautiful. Loved every minute. Except the fact there being thousands of people up here. You pretty much pick one hike and call it a day. There will be no parking otherwise. And if you do find a park, your adding 2-5 miles extra to your hike. No lie, there is MILES of cars on both sides of the highway. Did the Blue Lake hike. There is a restroom here. Bring extra TP in your pack. There may or may not be TP in the restroom. There was when I got there. Probably 11 rolls. When I came down the mountain and was using it to leave. There was none. Glad I have some in my pack. Dogs are welcome. Seen SO many. Was awesome seeing all the happy doggos on the trail. There is also a few picnic tables at the trailhead. Remember to pack out what you pack in.

We went up Earl Peak starting at the Bean Creek trailhead. Most of the elevation gain is at the last half mile up Earl Peak. Worth it! One thing worth noting is if you're looking to get to Earl Peak and use the WTA's directions, it'll take you to the wrong spot. Just follow the signs that says "Beverly Camp GR 3" and you'll run into the Bean Creek trailhead. 2ish miles from the trailhead you'll come across another sign that says "Bean creek trail no 1391.1" with an arrow pointing up. Take a right at that sign and you'll run into Earl Peak. It's steep but I had views for days! Bugs didn't get obnoxious until we got to the top of the peak but even then it was too bad. Be sure to sign the summit registry!
