The Scenic Hot Springs is one of the most unique experiences I've ever had! I've always wanted to hike to Hot springs in the mountains, and now I completely understand the appeal of doing so.
Be warned, this particular hike to the hot springs is not for the faint of heart. It is a gain of about 1,100 ft in a little under 2 miles (a stout grade to be sure). Round trip you're looking at almost a 4 mile hike, so be prepared. Since this is on private land, you want to make sure you stay on trail, but they're really aren't too many ways to get turned around as the trail is pretty obvious.
The payoff is completely worth it, however. They have two smaller tubs and one large rectangular pool at the hot springs area. The uppermost tub was the hottest, the lower most tub was second in temperature and the large rectangular pool was a pleasant warmth that one could sustain soaking in for long periods of time.
They have a little outhouse as well as a changing area and a picnic table about 50 ft away from the actual hot springs. Reservations are required, and obviously weekends are the most popular. They cap the amount of people that can use the hot springs per day at 15, so you won't have an overcrowded experience. You have the entire day to make your way up to the hot springs and enjoy them, so there is definitely no rush.
If you are in the Cascades, and you are looking for a genuinely unique experience, you would have to try hard to...
Read moreStarting 2025 out right with a soak at Scenic Hot Springs. Was invited by friends and I was pleasantly surprised how awesome this place is.
The hike isn’t too bad. Short and steep. We used snowshoes but, at this time we would have been fine in hiking boots. Not enough snow yet to ski tour. We stopped plenty of times to take in the view and pics. Took us almost 2 hours up. I ran down in 25 min.
The Hot Springs requires reservation and can support a max group of 15 persons. Kind of a weird system to make a reservation but, they book up quick so plan accordingly. Once you have paid and confirmed booking, you will receive instructions on how to access the hot springs.
The hot springs facilities include a pit toilet, changing area, cleaning station, a warm pool, hot pool, and “cold” plunge. The warm pool is beautifully well done. Nice new rock and bench features. Appears to be a significant upgrade from the original structures. There is little white floating debris in the water but, it’s meant to be there: it’s the natural minerals.
Beautiful views of the cascades and you can see HWY 20 from the hike. It is not too far from Stevens Pass Ski area. The hours are from sunrise to sunset.
I felt so relaxed and just loved the fresh snow on the trees, surrounded by mountains. One of the more intimate hot springs settings which is pretty awesome. Please keep this place pristine....

My visit to the hot springs wasn’t bad. I was a little let down by the conditions, but not as bad as some of the other reviews here. The tubs were a bit dirty, yeah, but no more than what I had expected with an outdoor hot spring.
The place could definitely use some care and attention, but for the most part I think the area is still fairly clean. Overall I’d say my experience was just fine.
The hike in was definitely more aggressive than what I was expecting. It’s not a long hike, somewhere around 2 miles each way, but it’s the elevation gain that gets to you. It’s a solid workout to get up to the hot springs.
The outhouse bathroom is barely more than a deck with a hole cut into it, and even then it’s not exactly private, and there’s no real drainage for it either. I recommend using a restroom before heading up to do this hike.
You’ll follow the dirt road up until you hit the power lines. Then you’ll follow the power lines until you see a very sharp right hand turn, there’s a wood bench at the spot that serves as a good landmark. Then that trail takes you straight to the hot springs. Pretty easy. The website instructions felt more complicated...
