Super unhelpful staff/camp hosts & need some client care training! I arrived at 8:30pm tired and ready for shelter and they turned me back around coz apparently they don’t take walk in reservation after 8!!!! & they kept repeating that piece of info like robots!! Not sure what the issue is, they were there and they have the spots! What’s the complication for? They didn’t even give me a convincing reason why, other than the system won’t take in the reservation- we truly have became slaves to the system, how about writing it down for now and dealing with it when the system lets you in the morning !!!FYI when they called me back after leaving them a voice note asking what their procedure is& before I get there- the call center who called back- isn’t aware of these made up rules and gave me the wrong info saying as long as you get there before 9, they are there and have the spots then you should be fine!! Their reason for not taking me in is apparently so valid for human existence coz they had the heart to turn me and my cat around at that hour! This vanlife has its challenges but somehow the part that us humans can make easy we managed to complicate and make it inaccessible with so many rules that serves nothing! Human interactions are becoming worse by the day we might as well shift to AI completely, we are starting to sound like robots anyway! Very...
Read moreWe decided to take a local safe trip during COVID. I grew up in Blue Springs so very familiar with the area. The campground is very close to anything you might need. Close to grocery stores, big box stores and plenty of fast food and restraints. I know it's camping but sometimes you need a run for something your forgot to pack of don't feel like making a camp meal. The park is gated so you need a code to get in. I like that, makes you feel more secure. We are tent campers so was a little disappointed with the amount of shade during the heat. Also if you want a flat area for the tent it's in the open. We found shade but camped on an incline. There is a shower house that is central to the park and a separate bathroom/Laundry. There is only 1 unisex bathroom so if the park is full you may be running to the shower house a bit farther away. Better hope it's not an emergency 😁 it's clean and huge for just a toilet and sink. The shower house is clean too but everything is unpainted concrete so nothing special. They are free. The lake is at 5 min drive so don't expect great scenery. It's a quiet place surrounded by tree. Except for the highway noise in the...
Read moreBlue Springs Lake CG offers sites with and without hook-ups and every combination in between. We opted for a 30amp-only site ($29) and used one of the numerous and easy to access spigots to add water to our tank. The sites vary in size, access, and levelness, and if you are hoping for easy parking, your best bet will be the FHU sites (presumably newest). Our site was huge, but it was also probably the least level site we’ve camped in after 3.5 years of being full-time. It was off inches side-to-side, and it was sloped severely backwards. On the plus side, all of the spots are large, offer plenty of privacy, and the park is quiet and very pretty. Our electricity worked perfectly during our stay, and Verizon was great without a booster. There is an easy to access dump station on the way out with the caveat that a line at the dump station could block the park exit, though we never saw that problem so maybe it isn’t one. The camp hosts were very nice, and the entire CG is very well cared for. The park is conveniently situated for easy access from the highway, and it’s conveniently close to nearly every...
