I went to Express Oil Change in Lee’s Summit for a routine oil change, my first time at this location. A few weeks later, I noticed oil spots on my driveway and returned to have it checked. They inspected the vehicle and told me I had a cracked oil pan, quoting me a $1,500 repair. That quote alone was insanely overpriced from my research online. They were quoting $1000 just in the oil pan and PCV valve.
Before agreeing to any major work, I took my car to Royal Automotive for a second opinion. Their approach was significantly more thorough. They carefully cleaned the entire underside of the engine and surrounding components to remove any residual oil. This included degreasing the area and making sure everything was completely dry, allowing them to accurately check for any active leaks.
After cleaning, they inspected the car in detail and found no oil leaking from the oil pan or anywhere else. Instead, they discovered that oil had likely been spilled during the original oil change at Express Oil Change, and had collected in the engine splash shield. The pooled oil would slowly drip after driving, creating the appearance of a leak. They even showed me where the oil was collecting—well above the oil pan, further proving there was no actual damage.
After I drove the vehicle home and checked again, there were no further signs of any leak—even after an extended drive.
I’m very disappointed in the service I received from Express Oil Change. I was nearly convinced to pay for a costly, unnecessary repair due to what appeared to be a rushed or inaccurate diagnosis. I won’t be returning, and I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to any major repairs from...
Read moreToday, I got my oil changed for the first time at this location. Zach did an amazing job at explaining everything I needed to know about my car. He was kind and answered any questions I had with the same kindness. He explained things to me in a way that I (a girl who is only YouTube certified with very little car knowledge) could understand. Which is very impressive to say the least. Zach asked if I had anymore questions and I said that I could not get my oil change light to go away. I was having to watch the miles I put on my car to see when I needed an oil chance since I thought the light was broke. All three of the guys working (Jeff, Zack, and Zach) tried to help me out no questions asked no hesitation. After trying a few things, Jeff asked if he could try to make the oil change light go away. He DID!!!! Not only that, but my low tire light that has been going off for TWO YEARS is now gone also. I have been manually checking my tires for two years due to a tire light that never goes away, so THANK YOU! And now I do not have to watch my miles to change my oil either, which is awesome. Zach, Zack, and Jeff were helpful and extremely kind. I will be getting my oil changed here...
Read moreI’m not usually one to leave complaints, but I recently discovered that my air filter had been installed upside down and hanging out, and I had been driving hundreds of miles that way. I’ll admit, I wasn’t taught much about working on cars, but I do keep up with checking my fluids. While checking my coolant, I noticed the air filter was halfway out.
I went back and waited about 20 minutes before being helped. The gentleman who assisted me was very kind and helpful, but I couldn’t help but notice that the others just sat in the office. I only had one simple question: Is my air filter on correctly?
I’m disappointed with the oversight, but I do appreciate the service and kindness from the staff who helped me. We all make mistakes but this was a HUGE lesson for me to always...
