Actually a pretty rare little micro-climate, it should be better maintained. I've seen some unique slugs and fungi and it seems to be fed by a natural spring, year round creek. Some ravines and islands and elevation changes, maybe 50ft max. Pretty in the early spring before the mosquitoes take over or in the fall. I've also seen some native plants here that are harder to find outside of places like Starved Rock or Shawnee National Forrest, like this Native carnivorous pitcher plant rising up in the photos. This place was preserved as a pre-columbian micro ecosystem due to the unusually rough terrain in my opinion.

This is truly a peaceful and beautiful place. Hard to believe just a stones throw from the busy downtown lemont and state street Bridge is this nature preserve area. You honestly feel like you are in a completely rural area far from civilization in some parts of the paths and creek beds. Go for a walk it'd well worth it and will relieve stress or at least it does for me. Seems everyone likes the same locations . The pavilion for parties and BBQ, bring your own grill. The romantic stone bridge, great for prom photos and engagement photos, the bike bridge.

Loved this place. The grassy area before the shelter is pretty high and the trail getting there isn't very wide, so watch out for ticks. They should make the path a bit wider and have tables there for families to be able to use the area. The bridge is super cute.

Lovely woods, spring fed creek. The only regrettable issue is that it must be a favorite evening hangout for underage drinkers, as there were cans and trash scattered about, and unfortunately, broken bottles planted in the creek bed... and elsewhere so going barefoot could...
