Actually a pretty rare little micro-climate, it should be better maintained. I've seen some unique slugs and fungi and it seems to be fed by a natural spring, year round creek. Some ravines and islands and elevation changes, maybe 50ft max. Pretty in the early spring before the mosquitoes take over or in the fall. I've also seen some native plants here that are harder to find outside of places like Starved Rock or Shawnee National Forrest, like this Native carnivorous pitcher plant rising up in the photos.
