Black Partridge Woods — Attraction in Lemont Township

Actually a pretty rare little micro-climate, it should be better maintained. I've seen some unique slugs and fungi and it seems to be fed by a natural spring, year round creek. Some ravines and islands and elevation changes, maybe 50ft max. Pretty in the early spring before the mosquitoes take over or in the fall. I've also seen some native plants here that are harder to find outside of places like Starved Rock or Shawnee National Forrest, like this Native carnivorous pitcher plant rising up in the photos. This is truly a peaceful and beautiful place. Hard to believe just a stones throw from the busy downtown lemont and state street Bridge is this nature preserve area. You honestly feel like you are in a completely rural area far from civilization in some parts of the paths and creek beds.
