Wilson Creek Visitor Center — Attraction in Lenoir

I've been visiting Wilson Creek 1 to 3 times every year since 1980. It was a place you could fish, find solitude, and recenter yourself. The creek just ain't what she used to be. Turned a bend below Mortimer bridge and saw satanic painting on the rocks. The amount of garbage and disrespect of nature left behind by people is disgusting. And Mortimer is now "reserved" camping for the "glampers" towing 35' trailers at 3 times the cost it was. The human destruction and disregard for that beautiful waterway is a shame. That creek can't support the increasing deluge of inconsiderate self serving human pressure. I'm really glad I can picture it as it was 50 years ago. This was my last trip. I'm not going to...

Absolutely loved talking to the guy here at this visitor center! He was super nice and very informative about the area around! They had lots of books and information for my research and took the time to sit and talk with us for about an hour. It's very nice and clean and we love the area, Brown mountain, Wilson's creek. Nice Visitor Center to get specific directions and ideas to learn more about the area. There is an scale model of the entire mountain, taxidermy animals, fly fishing memorabilia, water and restrooms.
