Barett Park USED to be such an enjoyable park to walk my dog in ON A LEASH responsibly and leisurely because of all of the trails and the playground as my dog likes to slide and run on the bridges.. I always carried dog poo bags with me to dispose of anything NEVER did i ever leave it in the park to decompose or to make problems for people walking the trails. I am very upset at the change as for about 4 months from before the grand opening of the park to the grand opening your signs said no dogs until....no date or time..just no dogs until... and then...poof like magic your signs said no dogs. no dogs until a certain date was so fine with me but then to just change it .no thats not ok. Maybe if youre so concerned about children and adult health in the park then maybe you should ban anything and anyone that lurks there at odd hours of the day and night and maybe just look around to see that people are STILL taking their dogs into your park without permission or a care as to whether they clean up after them or not ..unlike myself even though it says not to as there are multiple dogs droppings from when you enter to the back trails.I am very dissapointed and will probably not be going back and that saddens me because the ONLY other "dog" park if you can call it that is in FITCHBURG not Leominster and I can still NOT bring my dog on the playground which is where i take him after our walks. I also brought my dog AND cat in a dog carriage during your grand opening and was welcomed. If I can do that then there should be no reason I can't carry my dog in my...

You can do endless laps around the pond enjoying the view. Uusally a fountain out in the middle of the pond, pretty cool. It's the perfect distance around for anyone.. jogging or walking. Plenty of room going in both directions. Even people with strollers have no issues eventhough it's not paved. The pond has a really nice gazebo area you can walk out into. Lot of people fish here, but you can definitely score some alone time. Alot of people fish off more a fishing deck on the other side of the pond. There are several areas with fields and seating and tables. Also a few areas with large open gazebo type structures. As well as a nice little playground for children. You can stroll off the beaten path of the pond and explore multiple trails. They are also very well kept. A couple lead you to someone's back yard, where you have to turn around. But most of them connect. There is one that will bring you to a really cool staircase that seems ancient. Along side a waterfall you can tell has been there forever. It's also open in the winter, but you can still hike and walk if youd like. But you can also ice skate on the pond. It's an awesome park....
Read moreWhat a great little part of Leominster! I love coming here at any time of the year. The hiking trails are great exercise and there’s so much beautiful nature to enjoy. The waterfalls are a great sight, the water trough in the woods along the yellow trail on Gardner Hill is a fascinating relic, the chair at the top of Gardner Hill is a nice reward for making it to the top, and the pond has plenty of fish for people to enjoy fishing. There are lots of places to sit and relax and enjoy the environment as well.
Just today I went and decided to take some pictures from around the area. Take a look and I hope you enjoy! Highly recommend coming here to relax, get some exercise, and remember that life...
